I was bored so I figured I'd make a sort of intro thread showing my past and current loves...

Ah...my '04 civic was my first car and what started this whole little obsession that most of us have, that is, compulsively modding our cars
. Sadly she was slower than most cars on the road, so I looked to something with a little more pep when the opportunity arose...

I was completely in love with my '06 RX-8, although she required a lot of attention in maintenance. I didn't care because she handled like a dream, but still left some power to be desired, and gas mileage was becoming a concern. I wasn't completely where I wanted to be with this car before she met her demise, blowing an apex seal. The engine was replaced under warranty, but things were never quite the same after that...

And now on to the current, '10 SS/TC. I looked to something that was better on gas (as I'm still in college and have quite the daily commute), had some handling, and at the end of the day still put a smile on my face. I must admit, a cobalt was nowhere in my mind when first starting to look at purchasing. Coming from the RX-8 is quite a quality-shock lol IMO. But by overlooking somethings, I liked the overall functionality, power, practicality, MPG's, and modding potential.
And that's my story guys lol. Name is Chris and I hail from far west texas.

Rotary = Eww
If you ever want revenge on someone though give them different spark plugs that are a tiny bit longer and it will wipe out those apex seals in less than a second lol.

@jacblack. I think I do actually remember seeing that thread haha...crazy.
I think you said it exactly right. I think the only things I really miss about the 8 are the looks, interior, and sound. As much love as the rx8 sees here haha, its funny to see how much they bash on the ss over there. And rx8 owners tend to fall back on the whole (myself included) ''my car has awesome handling'' thing, when power is in question..but honestly, the ss/tc doesn't really leave too much to be desired..realizing of course, they are two completely different beasts. I guess I was honestly the same way, that is, before I actually drove the cobalt. Having torque is nice as it turns out lol.

i too went from an rx8 to cobalt ss haha. i love the FI though..you are right. the quality is wayyyy different than the rx8 and cobalt though. oh well, i'll sacrafice the interior and exterior appeal for some extra mpgs and FI

Glad to see you're out of that damn Rx-8. One of my best friends drives one. paid way way too much for it and has had nothing but problems ever since, although it could be because he doesn't drive it very well. always shifting at about 5 grand, doesn't get the oil changed right at 3000 Miles like you should in that car and when he gets wheel hop he seems to push the pedal further to the floor instead of letting off. Either way going with the cobalt was a major upgrade IMO. Much faster and much more capable! I like the red
