another new toy

1989 Jeep Cherokee laredo, 149,000 miles. picked it up for a whopping $400 with a blown trans, friend had an extra one laying around, so spent the weekend swapping in the new one. Already has a 3" lift, new shocks, springs, and a few other little maintenance items. Needs a little work still like a tune up, new rear driveshaft (have a vibration)
Interior is pretty much mint, just need to pop in a radio and some new speakers. Friend of mine works for JVC and has a **** ton of extra speakers and TV's so I think this thing is gonna get one hell of a system w/a dvd player and at least 2 tv's for the trail.
! year old motor, just popped in a new used trans, rebuilt dana 35 rear.
Soon to come 8" lift, long arm front suspension, and my dana 44 from the other jeep. New bumpers being made in the next few weeks. Have a set of 35x12.5x15" truxxus tires on black american racing wheels. Should turn out to be a pretty good wheeler and decent daily driver.. This is the cobalt's replacement as a work vehicle since the city street have really been taking their toll on the cobalt.
Well here's some pics, more to come later today, imo it looks pretty damn good for an almost 20 year old truck

and the tires lol

yeah cobalt is gonna be on hold yet again, sold the house and have to move out in July, don't want to risk having the cobalt not running when I have to move. Just gonna clean up the cobalt, do some maintenance work on it, and leave it in the garage for now since it's still running pretty damn good. Only take it out for some car shows, and when the Jeep goes back into the shop for the big lift.
Can't wait to get those 35's on the truck lol. Need to finish stripping down the other Jeep I have to get all the suspension parts together along with the Dana 44 rear I have and make sure what I may need to buy before hand.
Still waiting on a few more parts for the cobalt before I can tear it down and do the rebuild on it since all my parts ended up in Trix's car. already have pistons and head studs, need to order the headgasket, valve springs, retainers, and have the bushings on the rods honed out to it the diamond wrist pins. Hopefully will be able to bang in out in 1 or 2 weekends.

Sounds like a plan man. Good luck with the move. Did Trix figure out his burning oil issue yet? Looks like I've figured out what piston/rod combo I'm going to use on the Integra after sifting through a million different parts that are available, so that should move things along quickly.

paul, I have the same jeep but mine is a 92 with the same mileage. Got some BF Goodrich All -Terrian T/A's new fuel pump, new battery, new radio, new front brakes and the interior is mint with a 4x4 4.0L, they are pigs on gas though.

My problem is the torque converter is making a bunch of noise but not stopping it from moving. trying to ditch it for $800. these motors are bullet proof!
