Yeah, it was announced awhile ago lol I've just finally have seen it hitting some of the stores out here. Right now I'm just stuck with my XTi. Had the kit lens for about 2 years and just now finally got a 50mm f/1.4 and a lensbaby 2.0. Still waiting on the lensbaby but am loving the 50mm so far. Still eagerly awaiting a good deal on a 580EX II though!
I've gotta get back to work but I'll post up some when I get home!
Pictures moved to official photography thread.

I'd kill for the new 5D. It's insane how amazing the video looks. The pictures look even more amazing with some L glass. Sadly, I'll only be getting the 50D in about 6 months. When the 5D is twice the price, I can't afford that AND nice glass.

thats my issues with dslr's, the price for glass which is why I ended up going with wide ultrazoom. However, recently there was an announcement to release micro 4/3 cameras which are up to 50% smaller than a standard dslr but retains the dslr sensors and abilities with the added abilities of a fully digital camera, allows the use of standard lens' via a step up attachment but also allows for the smaller 4/3 lens' that are cheaper but allows the same zoom abilities of the larger lens but are smaller in overall size.

Oni - what is the crop like on those? Also, glass can be bought from 3rd parties like Tamron and Sigma for cheaper although you're risking less quality.

2x factor vs the more common 1.6 found in most 3/2 setups. When you think about it the advantage of extra lines of resolution from the 4/3 system end up very close in the end result to the 3/2 probably a ~20% advantage for the 4/3 system in visual real estate. You won't notice extra detail just more of the actual image.

Holy crap, how did I miss this thread
I've had a 20d for quite some time and it's a very solid camera (for anyone looking on ebay). I've traveled to quite a few places with it and it has never failed.
I've had it for Katrina, and Iraq, and it's durability is what keeps me buying Canon.

Bestbuy has Canon Rebel XSI for 1049.00 in a package
8GB SDHC Card
55-250mm IS Lens (regular 349.99)
Canon XSI w/ IS 18-55mm lens
Backpack Bag
I think you save near 200 going this route for those that might be interested

Extending the thread...
I have a Pentax K20D, and it is the BOMB! I have Pentax K-mount lenses that are over 25-30 years old, and they mount right up, ready for full manual shooting. 14.6MP, CMOS sensor, body-based shake reduction (even on those 30YO lenses!).
I bought my K20D from Adorama.com in December. They had it a $699 for a 3-day period, including 18-mm AL DA II lens.
I paid $720 for the camera, lens, M42 lens adapter, and a 2nd battery. Awesome deal at the time, as Pentax was also giving an extra 3Y extended warranty from 10/1/2008 - 12/31/2008, so my camera is warranted until 12/14/2012
FYI - Ritz is closing some stores down, and most stuff is 40% off or more.
On top of that, their normal clearance sections, is already discounted, and you take 40% off the discounted price!
I bought a battery for my Pentax Optio A40 P&S for $20 ($60 normally) and a Pentax Remote F for $14 (normally $33)
On P&S, a few sellers on ebay and amazon are listing the Pentax Optio A40 for about $140-160, MSRP is $249. Nice camera. 14MP, manual mode, IR remote support, nice pocket shooter.
Word to the wise - if you get a GOOD High-megapixel camera, don't skimp on the memory card.
Get a good card, like the Sandisk Extreme III (30MB/sec version) or the new Extreme IV (CF-only, last I checked) to get max performance from your camera.
I mean, you wouldn't put Pep Boys Futura tires on your Cobalt SS, would you?
Didn't think so...
