Be careful driving in severe winter weather

Even with AWD. This video is from an evo 8

Evo 8 Accident. Almost Totaling the Car and Possibly Death - YouTube

Seriously scary video. People need to learn not to stop in conditions like this. Best thing to do is to keep moving.

Also that guy should NOT have been driving that fast.

People are too confident while driving in the snow... You don't have to be going fast in the snow to lose control and yet I see all these soccer moms in vans and SUVs going way too fast for the conditions

i mean the roads here can get that bad, but everyone either pulls off in the shoulder, or at a rest stop.

you never see people stopped in a lane. maybe its an american thing i dunno

Good driving on his part, brakes in an icy situation is a really bad idea. Most America drivers are ******* retarded when it comes to handling a vehicle.

Yea the Evo was still driving entirely too fast. But his quick thinking earns him some points back. This also proves a street Evo is in no way a rally car.

I will disagree with you on snow but you're right on ice. Doesn't matter how many wheels are spinning on ice. Studded tires would help on the ice though.

But on snow, with snow tires, AWD is a whole different animal. It's an absolute blast, and you have unrivaled control of the car. FWD and RWD just can't compete in snow.

I was on the highway in weather like that last year around Xmas, going through Jersy on our way back to MD from NY and there were cars everywhere. Luckily I had my Dodge Ram, 4x4 with 33's and extra weight saved my ass. A guy in a 2wd ram slammed into the barrier right next to us. If I had the cobalt at the time I would have never made it home. Probably saw 20 accidents between both sides of the highway, thats never fun. That was probably the worst the roads have ever been when I was driving but I had no choice, had to get back home for work. I'm just glad my son stayed in NY at my moms until the next week.

holy **** lol that semi was haulin ass. gotta love the fearless drivers out there and the dumb ones that stop on the road cause some other dickface spun out.

a lady spun out into my old LS while we were driving across a bridge and she stopped then someone else stopped and while they stopped to see if the lady was ok,i pulled off over past the bridge and i get out and i see car after car after car slam right into the back of the lady that spun out into me. total of 12 cars in the pile up just because the lady stopped after she spun out. dumb.

this makes me think of this video from last year....
20 Car Pile up P.1 - EveryPlaylist.com - YouTube

anymore i just don't take the cobalt out in bad weather because i trust NOBODY else on the road, the most i do is ride or drive with the boss in our 1 ton duramax dump with western V plow... the big thing is that not everyone has the common sense to slow down and be cautious to all things unexpected which is why accidents like this happen.

For some people, awd is a very, very bad thing. They accelerate from a stop, and the impression the car gives 'em is that traction is fine, they then round the first bend, slip, and in a panic hit the brake - essentially eliminating all of the benefit awd gives them.

First bad snow of the season in Jersey, and you'll see the typical crop of BMW x5's and Lexus SUV's, not to mention the odd A4 quatro spun 180 on the highway, with a ******* (or confused looking lady), calling triple-A, wondering how the vehicle they saw on the commercial blazing through 2 feet of powder couldn't handle 2 inches of salty slush. If they got the sensation initially that traction was worse then they thought, they likely would have driven a little more carefully!

I give the Evo guy props for downshifting, and keeping on the car, so that nothing spanked his ass! Even if he was going a bit fast, he handled shedding that speed well given the circumstances!
