Well I painted it, I did a poll a while back and most of you said to do it all black, well i did and I love it Heres some pics I will get some better ones next week when i wax it. Overall i don't think I did a bad job it was my first time painting something like this and it turned out great, not as shiny as the paint on my car but i cant expect much more out of a can.

now I'm trying to contemplate if i should paint the rear beauty bar on the back black.

 

I don't know how I feel about this.........on one hand, the blacked out look is sick. But on the other hand, the stock polished look grill added contrast to the car, especially the black/polished wheels. Either way, it looks good though

 

Yea but it was just too much chrome, thats why i left it chrome around the bowtie to give it some contrast.

 

Word. Yeah, looks good though man. My mom has a black HHR and she's done a few things here and there........trying to get her to do more in the future. So far she has a Pilot Automotive chrome exhaust tip, vent visors all around, bowtie floormatts and a chrome fuel door.

 

My plan is to get rid of most of the chrome but still leave some, but not much. Cause i do like chrome but to much makes cars look cheap to me.

what kind of paint did you use on the bowtie emblem and how did you prep it man what you did looka really great i have a 07 hhr panel and i love it

Sanded it with 500 grit sand paper, then i used 3 coat of adhesion promoter, 3 coats of dupli color automotive paint, and 4 coats of clear. then used some compound and wax on it about 48 hours later.

its too bad you can't have a chrome ring around the grill, that would make it look alot better

nah, then it wouldn't have that "vintage" look the HHR is designed to have. I like it where it stands. Perfect amount of black AND chrome.

 

To each his own, I've just never liked any chrome accents on any car whether it be a vintage looking car or not but that just me

 

So you wouldn't want any chorme on say..........a '57 Chevy???
