Cobra Jet Mustangs at the track
My wife put a vid together of a couple Cobra Jets at the Kansas International Dragway in Wichita. One broke a tranny during their NHRA licensing passes. Track prep was nonexistent due to equipment problems, but other one finally ripped off a 9.94 @ 136.8 run (last pass on the vid). I'm not a Ford fan, but these were fun to watch.
A little background, the 2009 Cobra Jet Mustang (FR500CJ) puts out about 425 HP and was limited to a production run of just 50. The car is sold pre-approved for drag racing by NHRA, and will feature a number of racing modifications and optional roll cage. I think they cost about $70k. They are true turn key race cars and have no VIN.
One of the two in the video is serial number 001 and both were modified by Holzman Race Cars with Ford approval. It will compete at NHRA events as an A Stock Automatic.
