Convertable Cobalt Photoshop
Convertable Cobalt Photoshop
Excusing the fact that Photostudio 2.0 limits me to this kind of photoshop, I toyed with the Idea of a Cobalt being Convertable, using a Saab 9-3 Vert as a basis.
The original Picture:

the Vert:

Since summer is arriving, wouldn't it be nice to have the open roof?
Enjoy!

P.S. I know that there is snow on the ground, and it doesn't do anything to make you feel warmer... so suck it up and be men.

It's good to see varying opinions on it, I for one probably would've gotten the Vert if they had made one, just for the sole fact that an SS/SC, and the open air would appeal to me... Personally I think it looks no more "weird" than when I see a Cobalt Sedan, but I think it's all in what your used to...
Practical for GM to build? No, I'd have to agree that it's best left up to the solstice!

not a bad comparison picture. I won't mind a Cobalt Convertible (if they made it). The whine of the supercharger with the top down is pure sex. Imagine all the hot babes you could pork with the extra room without the roof (more room). Definitly, wreaks of sex in that car fo sho!
Here's a G6 Convertable.

Nice job Sean!
As for the convertable, it looks astastic if you ask me! The wing is totally fugly on the convertable! Maybe the RK sport wing should be stock!
As a side note, I really hope that they don't make a convertable version. The Cobalt chassis is very stiff in coupe or sedan form, although that may not transfer over to the convertable. The Cav and Sunfire convertables needed several hundered pounds of chassis bolstering, and they still had the structural ridgidity of a wet noodle! The Z24 trim had base suspesnion because the sport tunning would had shaken the car to bits.
The only convertable I would ever consider owning is a C5 or C6 Vette. Both cars were designed to be a convertable model from the outset. The convertables are still increadibly stiff (requiring no additional chassis stiffening, thus weighing almost exactly the same as their coupe counterparts) and are almost as aerodynamic with the top up. The C6 convertable is so strong, that it meets fixed-roof coupe roll-over crash standards, despite having no large A-pillar or roll hoop. That is an incredible achievement! Other manufactures, such as Ferrari with the 360 Spider or F430 Spider need extra chassis bracing due to the aluminum chassis, and end up weighing an additional 200-300 lbs!
Then there is the risk of decapitation....
And, if you are getting frisky with your girlfriend in the back....

Decidedly the Cobalt probably wouldn't be a good choice for a convertable, but any car with a top that is able to dissapear is good fun for me! I guess I'll have to upgrade to a Solstice eventually to get bugs in my teeth.
