Yea so I crashed the cobalt.. Im still very upset about this so I am going to make it short.. driving to work Tuesday and am in walking and viewing distance from work at scene of accident... I was driving around a corner and went to shift into 4th and dropped into 2nd while driving around a corner on RT 20 which was at teh time very slippery considering it was flurrying and 28 degrees out or so.. started doing a brief fishtail and before I had the chance to gain control my back tire or sumthin bumps into the cement median dividing that part of rt 20 and then my car loses it.. spins out of control over the median snaping all my axels and almost tearing the wheels off... ends up tossing me over through the other side of rt 20 (thank god not hitting on coming traffic) and throws my car up the top of this hill near some stores... Now these pictures dont look half as bad as it really is but it may actually be considered a total loss if the trasfer case is ruined or the engine block is cracked... I shoudl know hopefully by next week.. However.. I have to say I am glad my car did what it did.. If my axels were not to snap and they stayed in there and didnt bend my car would have flipped over that median for sure no question about it... Now the veryy crappy aprt about this is I was involved in an accident which I am not going to get into but it wasnt my fault and I never had a chance for an appraiser to come check the damage since I got into this accident before he could see teh other damage.. yepp sucks but here are some pictures anyways.. they are from a camera phone so they arent the best

thanks.. so once I do get the word that its totaled Ill be selling those parts you see listed in my mods..even if it isnt totaled I will be because I am going into the coast guard now .. the xtc downpipe and header haev never been installed either.. Ill let everyone know later... but yea again Im happy its broke the way it did.. I got minor whip lash but if it didnt snap I may not be able to type right now

My car was wrecked really bad like that too. Entire front suspension was fucked, both front tires were ripped off with mine. Did nearly 14,000 in damage and mine wasn't totalled. Best part it, it drives better AFTER the accident

 

Got a question. Why were you taking a corner in third gear? Were you just trying to minimize torque or were you speeding? I mean for your axels to snap like that some great forces must have been exerted.

it wasnt really a corner, it was a bend in the road that was mildly sharp... its rt 20 and the speed limit is about 40.. the reason I lost control was because it was freezing out, so there roads were slippery and the dropp into the wrong gear didnt help while going turning at that speed..

BUt thanks eveyone, Ill update you with what happens to my car.. they told me they might be able to salvage it if the engine block isnt cracked,, and I think they said if the transfer case wasnt damaged from when my axels got ripped out
