i live in highland lakes, some some of the nj/ny/pa guys may have seen it on the news. It was on all day on chanel 12, don't know abotu the other channels. We just got out power back today, it's been out since thursday. It was raining and freezing so quickly that all of the trees got weighed down to the point that they were just snapping. I have 40 foot trees that the tops are touching the ground right now, but they're not broken. Whole town lost power, my neighbor still doesn't have any. Crazy, crazy ****. I took about 60 pictures, and will be uploading them once I get my camera back, also took a video which i'll try to get up tonight. I had about 15 or so trees down on my property, and had to pull on the front lawn so my car didn't get hit. surely, a huge tree broke at the stump and fell right across where me and steph park our cars.
thursday night, we were outside the garage until about 3am when we were just too exhausted to watch anymore, but literally the trees were coming down everywhere non stop. Sounds like glass breaking because they were so covered with ice. the ice was about an inch thick around every branch and twig. to put it into perspective, a small branch that weighs maybe 5 pounds or so normally was too heavy to carry, had to be dragged.
i know it was all over the news, but it's one of those things that the news doesn't do justice. amazing how the peple just came together with their chainsaws and worked as a team. we cleared out the whole street, moved the downed power lines, it was pretty cool. the kicker is that if you drive 5 minutes away, it's like nothing happened.
busted my ass all day today cutting the trees down and clearing the yard. won't have to buy wood next year
pics will be up when i get my camera back.

me and my buddy had to clear out the road so we could drive out. my entire body is killing me right now. plus yesterday i had to video a weekend, so that is making me tired/sore as well
Glad you got your power back and everyone is safe. Two of our members here (Maxim_x and Tityrous) are electrical lineman who are currently working insane hours to get the power back up to all of those who lost it during the ice storm.
thanks. and yea, the guys have been out non-stop working, it's pretty crazy. the tree service guys are roaming the neighborhood today too
Yeah man. I'm on call for a lineman apprenticeship. All this crazy long hour storm work is intense but the pay makes it all worth it in the end. Maxim_x spent a month in texas after that last big hurricane went through there this past fall. I'm a little jealous of them to be honest!
haha, you guys get ice storms, we get these.

We had a storm like that last winter, Lost power for like 4 days and we live on a state route. We had like 8 inchs of snow then we got an ungodly amount of ice on top of it all, I have pics of tree branches just encased in like 1 inch of solid ice. It was pretty and kinda neat just didnt like the whole no power thing lol
il try to dig up some pics

roads by me were fine. we live in a lake community and part of our anual dues go towards road cleanup in the winter. if snow is even on the forecast, the salt and sand goes down and the trucks are out waiting. if you tried walking on the grass you probably would have done a backflip though

Thank god for Blizzaks.
My buddy who lives down the road from me just had his power restored... it was out since Thursday. Said it went down to 39 in his house
this is what i've cut so far. still have about 7 trees to cut up, can't get to them until the ice thaws a little more. it's a decent amount, i won't have to buy wood next year that's for sure
