Drivecam - some scary videos

Have you guys ever heard of this? I'm sure there are similar systems out there. I think a lot of trucking companies use this one. When it detects an "event" it automatically sends out the 15 seconds before and after the event. Continuously recording but if there is no event the video is permanently deleted. Would be cool to have as legal protection in a crash, unless it was your fault...

Ya the one with the 18 wheeler on the highway cutting across to the far left lane seemed really bad! How do these systems detect if something is going to happen 15 secs before?

it saves the data from 10 sec before the crash, its just an event recorder.

The first dude that fell asleep, should give you enough insight not to fall asleep while driving!

I guess it runs a constant 30 second buffer so once it detects a sudden deceleration or lateral g's it will take the 15 seconds before and after that. One of the trucking companies we work with has it installed in their trucks and it has already saved them from 2 very expensive accident payouts. You can't argue with video. When you have the actual product the video clips they email you have both a driver view and the view out the front of the car.

I like the guy in the truck that keeps driving and says "what the hell was that"

i work for fountain hills fire dept. in az and the first thing you learn in driving emergency vehicles is you always pass on the right. it was totally the ambulance drivers fault.

We have these in my trucks at work (I drive armored trucks), they use the video captured from our trucks a lot in training and such. The company can also pull random times from cameras if they want to see what we're up to. A few people have been bagged for not wearing seatbelts and radios, because ours have cameras that record both outside and inside the cab of the truck. Have seen some funny ones of the guys singing and talking to themselves or whatever, but they are fantastic for the company to avoid payouts.

Yup.... we had those in the ambulances at the company I worked for in Cambridge Ma. They see just about 360 degrees and run on a 13 second loop, so when they get triggered it records 13 seconds prior to the accident. We had a bunch of folders of people crashing ambulances...some crazy ****. I used to hate them though, they were so sensitive a pothole could set it off....so if you were talking about a supervisor and then hit a pothole you were screwed haha

You could sure have fun with them though, because not only does an accident set them off...you can also manually trigger it. I once got my partner while he was playing the "air" fiddle along to Shipping of to Boston by the Dropkick Murphys.....he was jamming out and I got it all on tape haha. There was definitely a lot of funny ones.

Damn that one on the Long Island Expressway was bad! If you watch it you can see theres an Audi that gets squashed between the Tractor-trailer and the vehicle with the camera.
