ok so the last one is a g5. ran across those pics from the divisional race at my local track.

 

Wow those cars are getting some air! I've seen a couple myself, kind of like the modern version of a Vega drag car. Great pictures.

those are full composite bodies. still roughly shaped like a cobalt though.

the cars i posted are nhra class legal GT eliminator cars that run within the super stock class. they are a full stock steel/plastic body, but it is a full tube chassis under it. they run a weight per cubic inch ruling, the bigger the engine the heavier the car has to be.

if you search NHRA GT cobalt on google there are literally hundreds of them.

 

I understand.... which is why I said evolved. Been following NHRA since the late 60's
