Hahn's '88 Grand National
BUSTED!
Well, heh...let's just say this is what we thought the '88 Grand National WOULD have looked like...had they ever made one! 1988 was the year GM dropped RWD across many models, debuting its new 3800 engine FWD platform. It was a very effective move...these new engines were aces from the get-go, and GM would go on to sell millions of them.
So what this car is wearing is the world's first Hahn RaceCraft turbosystem, designed and built in 1988, our first year of business!

And the car? It's a 1988 Buick LeSabre T-Type. We made the T stand for Turbo

Very good history. You know I own a 1991 GMC Syclone. GM was way ahead of their time. My truck ran a mid 13s stock and now she runs 11.7s untuned on 15psi. Just got her tuned for 21psi and alch injection. I hope to hit 500 awhp. After driving alot of performance fwd cars, I'll never look back and stick with AWD. You guys should buy a typhoon or syclone and make a hahn version, would be sick!

Lol I think ive seen your Cyclone is it White. I love seeing seemingly mundain Cars with Rare crazy performance packages. Like Buick SkyHawk Turboes, Dodge Omni GLH, Shelby Daytonas, and the likes. Perfect factory sleepers.
Tom's referring to my new SS/TC that I picked up at Lattof Chevy last night.Ah yes, she's a thing of beauty! I'm about to go outside and flush the rain off of her for some glamour shots!
Bruce, Dave and Peg were wonderful to work with, Tom. You folks have a great operation!

Clean install, but there actually was a "real" FWD H-body LeSabre Grand National trim package in '86 (before the T-Type came out in '87).
I worked at Bud Schmidt Buick back then and I actualy ordered one of them. But had a falling out and quit before I took delivery due to them wanting me to lie, cheat and steal from customers. BTW they went under not long after that.

Well, you provided one very interesting link there! I was not aware of this 'homologation special'. Thanks also for that insight!
One last note...from your sig, I can see you are one committed Domestic FWD performance fan! Pleased to meet ya!
Oh, you could say I've got a "few" front drive GM and Mopars.
Sold the Ford (SVT Focus) a while back when I picked up a new truck to tow all the other ones. On the LeSabre GN, I haven't even thought about them for years until I saw the pics of your nice T-Type and your comment. GM had a habit of making a few special cars over the years that are easy to forget.
if yes, i almost bought one of them back in 1994. I bought a 1990 cutlass calais international fe3 package quad4 5spd black w/ grey groung effects. She was a very quick car for back in the day. she had that 180Hp motor & was very quick in the city.
NICE TOO
was all Lesabre T-types turbos? even a 1990?

We just decided to make this car into a 'FWD Grand National'. As I recall, this was the first year for the 3800 engine (it replaced the venerable old 3.8), and it LOVED the boost!
And man, was thic car ever controversial. Folks called us blasphemers when we'd show up at the track with it!
