Hopkins > Tarver
i'm so glad hopkins went out a champ. for those of you not familiar w/ boxing, bernard hopkins moved up 2 weight classes to fight the light heavyweight champ that got cocky after beating a washed up jones jr. twice. once he stepped up to a boxer that actually has skill he got dominated the whole fight. antonio tarver did not want to meet hopkins halfway on the weight so hopkins, wanting to fight him bad, said, **** it, i'll meet you at your weight then. heavily underdogged he wont by unanimous decision 118-109 by all three judges.

good fight
tarver was an empty belt.
like you said he beat an ageing jones jr.
and the first KO with jones was a blind haymaker which takes no skill to throw. the second i think jones was mentally defeated before the fight began. he had never been knocked out like that and so much of jones game was mental. his arrogance fueled his strength.
on the other hand hopkins is a great boxer. he is what they mean when they say the "sweet science." he came in knowing what do do and kept tarver out of his game plan.
i love boxing but my new love is the UFC.
fighting is the purest form of competition in my estimation.
you vs me.....nobody else.
no teams to blame. no coaches. just one on one.

Im kinda glad Hopkins went out with a win, but this last fight aside I never liked him and he ran his mouth too damn much. He'll be remembered for moving up two weight classes and winning this fight, but people will tend to forget that he lost his previous two fights, in which he lost and then failed to regain his title. Jermaine Taylor is one hell of a fighter, and he's down to Earth too. Has a fight with Winkey Wright next weekend, should be a good one.
