I miss the old GM

In the middle of a brake job on our '91 suburban. Now something we do with all of our cars is keep a log book. we write down the date and mileage any time we do something. Wipers, gas, tires, oil, filters, etc... ANYTHING that happens is logged. So i looked and while we have replaced the rotors, we haven't ever changed the bearings, races or grease seals. For those who don't know, the old suburbans are a spindle mount brake setup, unlike the cobalts the suburban steering knuckle and caliper bracket is all one piece, and the wheel actually bolts on to the brake rotor instead of a separate wheel like the cobalts and many other cars.

so, here's a little car **** for those who enjoy parts instead of that japanese crap everyone is using now.

240,000 mile inner/out bearings, races, and grease seal. unfortunately though the grease seal won't be continuing the journey.

My old mans 83 z28 is like that, the rotor hub is all one piece, he last changed them maybe 10+ years ago, , no pulsing brakes, no wheel bearing noises , just a simple great setup!

Timken is a global company. They have plants and tech centers all over the world.

Looks great for the mileage, How often did you regrease them?

I love working on my nova or even my 95 chev diesel. Its easy and a lot more fun than working on all the post 2000 cars I deal with every day

Nova has only had one set of replacement shoes(all 4 corners) since 74 OE drums still, OE bearings but replacement seals.

95 diesel is still rocking OE waterpump, rad, most of the suspension 349K(i think thats where its at now)

i run timken exclusively in all my 4x4 stuff, when I build differentials, rebuild and repack hub bearings, etc. They are the best but are still around as much as they were back in the day.

the pulsing is actually why i'm turning the rotors. i've learned to just deal with it cause i've been driving the truck all winter. but it's something that needs to be fixed before i move.

Great foreign owned company masquerading as an American company.
