What version of linux did you use? I run some games on mine now and everything runs fine. I would think gamers would use an OS that runs faster on less specs? I know it can be a pain in the ass for some games to run on linux but allot of the big titles work fine.
Fedora Core, Ubuntu, Mint to name a few.
I like ones that you can boot directly from the disk, especially on units needing work that may be bust as far as the HDD goes.

I like NOT having to jump through hoops to get things to work, so I'm fine with Vista/XP for my gaming needs...which are minimal as is, just Valve, the Sims 3, and a few Strategy games.

i've never been a Fedora fan...reminds me too much of gentoo which i don't like either. What is it that everyone likes about Fedora? Enlighten me cause I might have to give it another try. I prefer OpenSuSE Ubuntu Mint

You know, I really dont know. It its quite a challenge to say the least. My learning experience with Ubuntu 8.04 on my ver. 3.1 santa rosa macbook was a PITA! I had trouble with, partitioning the HD and getting the install to work, the audio drivers, Wifi, and never did get the mousepad to work properly. But I have fun just toying around with different things and am tired of windows. I guess another part of it is my personality.. I have always been one to "go off the beaten path" and try to prove this way is just as good if not better than the "gates way", or any other popular way.

We really need a tech section so we can discuss these things in a designated place..

Fedora is another easy to obtain distribution of it. I have a couple of disks of various versions around the house. Also it is relatively easy to get started with with a nice GUI.

Note that I have not used it in a while though, maybe a year.

It's gotta be one of those first ever baseballs, you know; the ones filled with chewing tobacco and rocks.

hands down the best place to get wallpapers (in HD quality) is www.interfacelift.com which is where I got the baseball one. They are great. Usually update the site once a day with new wallpapers. Also have icons for Mac/PC
