Here, It's Called DTED

Digital
Terrain
Elevation
Data
It's a Raster File with elevation values that can be draped with a map to provide a 3D perspective view. In real time, these files can be over a terabyte in size. Even taking a Resample of a file to use in a simulation can be over 40 GB in size.
Makes for "Video Game Like Simulations" for Pilots and Soldiers.

I know just enough about computers to be able to build my own. I made this one 4 years ago and it has been problem free. It's antiquated now, but instead of building a new home PC, I'm going to be getting my first laptop this year. I need it for when I'm on the road. I'm waiting to buy until the release of Vista. Most retail places I've visited are actually giving a free Vista upgrade with any immediate purchase, so I might just go get one right after Christmas.
The D is where it is at right now for Budget preformence. I built my girl a nice DDR2 system for under $600.(well, nice except for the video card. But she does photoshop with it. So no biggie.)
Im building my mine in the summer. It makes me drool.

Got some new 19" Wide monitors yesterday.
They are hooked up to the old computer that has only one video card (Hence the same image in both)
They are 1:700 contrast at 1440x900 DPI, should be great "If" I ever get this New Computer to function.

So it's a bit loud when under load.
It's the POS Intel fan on the cpu. It runs up to 3000 Rpm and that all you can hear.
My Solution..
OVERKILL..
No Fan, No Noise...
