Then I want 2. Here in Ma it is a traffic fine for no front plate (unless it is the old green plates)

I would love pictures of the finished product to see how much of a bulge up front plate. Over here I see cameras getting more on the highway systems & just at side streets stop signs. The just roll the video back & try to make out the plate.

On the bracket this is so we can push it forward to show the plate numbers when we are parking the car (lets say the public street)?

Have you checked how it looks at night with a plate light on?

How about when another car light are on it at night w/ the plate light on? Does it still block it?

If yes I'm sold. I just want to see the thickness of the whole thing.

I may even have a couple of buddys after seeing mine want 1.

Thanks again & u are the bomb

im curious to see the finished product as much as you are, i will for sure make sure its as low profile as possible and looks clean, i wont rush it and just get it done as soon as possible..
once i see the first prototype done ill see if its something i wont put on my car then i know its not good enough to put on yours. i dont care how long it takes to perfect this thing, as long as i get it done to everyones standards..
ill even post the pics of the first prototype even if i know ill have to change it and send the guy back to the drawing board to get it done all over again, i will even take suggestions from you guys and change it accordingly if its a good idea...i know ill perfect this thing and ill make sure its my main priority to get it done perfectly..

also at night time this thing will most likely work better!...when i had this thing working and i flashed a flashlight it reflected alot of the light off the plate and i couldnt see absolutely anything at all..once i get this thing mounted ill flash a set of headlights on it and you will see how itll reflect the light right back at you...it actually makes it even harder to see anything at all once this has light shined on it, for a while i was actually thinking of mouting a light in the bracket so when it flipped on the light would come on and make it impossible to see through it even with the plate alot closer....but then the cost of it got way too high and i didnt want to bring in anymore expences on this thing than i already have to...
lets cross our fingers and hope this thing turns out perfect and everyone likes it, because i know im loving this thing already!

On the thickness I'm thinking of the front, The back looks deep on the cobalt. I know here in Ma the frown on it VERY BAD with no plate & it is a surchargable offense. That is all The front thickness.
Thanks & take your time.

yeah thats what i am most concerned about aswell...everyone doesnt mind the back because there is alot more room and its indented pretty deep for the most part so itll look good....as far as the front goes itll have alot less room to play with without it looking funny so ill have to try to get the cleanest bracket made as possible to make sure i can accomodate all the guys that require a front plate. especially the Canadian guys because pretty much everywhere in Canada there is a front plate needed.

ok guys quick update.....the guy basically made a shitty prototype in my opinion, i didnt bother even putting it on my car or testing, it didnt even look like what i had expected it to look like and it pissed me off...
i was looking for something that would be nice and clean and boxed in nicely, so it wouldnt expose any of the plate on the sides or anything...but instead he showed me basically a regular license plate cover you would see in the store, except bigger lol...

i laughed and told him if he rushes the next prototype and makes it look like **** im going to someone else...im giving him till tuesday to finish all of this and if not i already spoke to another machine shop about doing a prototype for me... a rush job like the one i saw yesterday is a slap in the face in my opinion...it looked to me like he forgot to do it and just dummied something up in one day for me...ill keep you all posted with this and let you all know whats going on...im starting to get alot of people lined up for this plate and im getting real pissed because i dont want to lose any business because of it...
sorry guys and thanks so much for your patience, ill keep you all updated..

Don't let it get to you. It's not your fault. I feel the same way on a lot of things. I pay for someone's I DON'T GIVE A **** WORK. This is why I try to do everything for myself. I seen a lot of fucked up **** too. Take your time I rather have it done right than a **** job.
Thanks for the update too.
I would have the guy make something out of aluminum

thanks i appreciate the patience....on tuesday ill have the raw prototype done without the powdercoating because he said he will need till wednesday if i want it painted. so what ill do is go and have a look at it and see if its something ill like and if it is ill have it powdercoated. i told him there is no point in him powdercoating it until i say i like what i see so we dont waste any time....

also as far as the aluminum goes, they can do it in aluminum but it will cost more to make because it requires more time to make (weld) an aluminum plate cover...for now ill stick to the powercoated metal and see how it turns out and if anything ill make them in aluminum in the future for the guys who will want it like that...
for now i want to keep it simple and get this all sorted out and working perfectly...if i do another plagte cover in aluminum ill have to guage a ton more interest from everyone and theyll have to pay more for it. i dont want to confuse everyone with options and pricing and end up scarig them away, so once i get thias all clear and done with ill definately look into doing different things in the near future....
Thanks again everyone!

ok guys i have the prototype on hand as we speak...a few alterations will be made for sure...i am going to set it up and snap a few shots for you to see...one thing for sure is it is very bulky and alot of refining work will be made to it to make it fit much better...as it sits right now its to big to fit even on my car so we have our guy making a new and improved version that will be slimmer and a bit lighter than this one...stick around tonight guys because ill be back on here in about an hour or so with pics, info, details, etc...i will also appreciate your feedback on it because the more eyes looking at this the better we can get this thing made...stay tuned and ill be right back!!...and remember..this is a prototype only and not the finished product, the finished product will also be powdercoated and look super clean...im pretty happy with the progress thats been made so far!!!

that worries me aswell, but we will be able to take about half an inch off the thickness of it for our next prototype...it actually wont look too bad on the front.. but on the back ill need to work on it some more...im working on uploading the pics on photobucket as we speak...all photos are in detail and youll see everything...its looking pretty good im sure the end result will look good...i have to admit though, this is turning out to be alot more work than i had anticipated..

here are the pics i took...this took me all night! so i hope you guys like em haha!...oh and dont mind the car, its a bit dirty as it poured rain today, oh and i know its not a cobalt so dont hate on me or flame lol!..if its any consilation i used to own an 07 ss/sc.
ok here are the pics...and please comment with new ideas because i have to change a few things on this plate...

yeah why is the thing so thick? the glass isn't that thick at all. so why is it necessary for the bracket to be that big?

because if the glass is pressed right up against the plate youll still see through it...there needs to be a gap in order for the plate to disappear completely. the glass fogs up but not 100% its about 80%..i posted about it near the beginning of this thread.

also this prototype is a bit exaggerated so itll be worked on alot more to be thinner..
