LED Underglow Kit

So I figured I'd buy a mid-price-range LED underglow kit and try it out. FastSS06, DJT81185, and WSFrazier helped me install it tonight. AlleyCat58 was there to call me a ricer and provide entertainment in the form of her dog sliding around on the wet ground.

Turned out pretty nice. I'll get some videos to put in here at some point this weekend to show off some of the motion effects. The patterns are pretty nice. There are 12 patterns with 4 speeds each, some sound sensitive. The kit is just blue, no 7 color or 2 million color kit here. It has a very nice remote that's just a tad smaller than my keyless entry remote. It gets good range... ask DJT81185, he tested it out for me.

The only two things left to do are move the back tube up a little so it's hidden better... and then hide some of the extra wiring i have in the engine compartment. After that, I'll be set.

I know I'll get flamed by some, but your entitled to your opinion, so it's all good. It's all about personalizing your car anyway, right?

Without further ado:

And an overexposed pic:

What do you think?

*puts on flame retardant suit*

More like watching her dog fly into the garage wall too fast.

I don't care what people say, you can't argue that first picture doesn't look good. I am very tempted to get a kit myself now. I like it. Even Dan said he liked in a low whisper voice, so he can't lie on here.

Should I post some the install pics with the torn up RedLine next to it? lol

looks good! I would never buy one anymore though because you cant use any colors here they wont allow blue, red,or green. (the police in the city dont really care but some small town sherrifs love to right tickets for them around here)

I love the lights. I want to get a 2million color set myself. Now only if Michigan would let us drive with them on, I hate some pointless laws.

To back up my thought that the law is pointless I think there should just be restrictions like not having the bulb visibly exposed and maybe a brightness limit. Oh well, that will never happen.

I like them bro but what do you do in the winter? I live near you in ct and winters suck. Do you have a winter beater? If not man those lights won't last 1 winter.

Wes... go ahead and throw up some install pics. I had none on my camera.

CTCOBALTSS - These should hold up nicely in the winter time. This was an LED kit, so it's pretty durable. It is much more durable than a neon kit. I just have to be careful with scraping my front now.

Can you tell it'd LED when u look at it? Like I mean I can tell LED kits because the light on the ground is always in little round pockets ya know? It's not one continuous light it's very directional.

Those pics don't look like that so I'd say it looks pretty good at least in the pics.

I was afraid it would be like that, especially with an eBay kit... but it's not spotted at all. They actually used true wide viewing angle LEDs. There's absolutely no spotting. The chase patterns are kinda cool too. I'll get some videos of them up soon. Overall I'm very happy with the quality of the kit for the price.

Thanks. Yeah I'd drop it, but I don't wanna put on any kind of spring kit. First... I'm afraid of rubbing when/if I autocross. Second... I'd rather have a nice set of coilovers.

You're a damn ricer and you know it!!!!!!! Even Bailey agreed. I asked her and she burped, but I swear it sounded like "RICE!"

I agree with you on the drop. You definitely won't regret coilovers. Lowering springs are not a long-term investment on a car that auto-x's.

Bailey ran into a wall last night... so she's not thinking straight anyway.

Damn straight I'll be the outsider, I don't want that **** on my car!!!!!!!! I'd have it torn out of there in no time.

BTW Dan, I hope those things are pretty sturdy. Melissa brought up a good point...one good cone hit to the underside of the sideskirt and those suckers could be history.

BTW speaking of ricers, I guess there was a wreck in Youngwood today and the other driver drove off. Police scanner: "Copy, the other car is a Red Honda Civic. Kind of souped up with an obnoxiously loud exhaust. Car will have some damage to the left rear taillight."

We all just started laughing.

I've got the stupid Illinois law that says I can't have them either, but my 2.1 million color LED kit goes on Monday. I'll just use them when parked.

i'm not one for underbody light kits, but it doesn't look bad. i think the trick with these is that "less is more" and it's pretty quiet.

another one of those things where the 88 sentra with the rear light fixture visable from the back ruins it for everyone.

48" side tubes... 36" front/back tubes. Standard sizes.

I'm surprised at the compliments. Thanks to all. I thought maybe I'd get some shiza for the underglow... but seems like people like it. I was pleasantly surprised by it... it turned out very nice.
