Trolls will be trolls but ****, at least have some sympathy for a fellow cobalt owner. No need to bash his driving skills. The only person that knows exactly what happened was him.
andd my point went over your head. also I did show sympathy if you look at one of the posts I made.

hard to get surprised if you're already expecting it btw. I don't trust blinkers and I don't trust women drivers. Or anything with mexican plates. You will never see me more than 2 car lengths close to the vehicle in front of me unless im in bumper to bumper traffic or at a red light. was just throwing it out there to raise his awareness which everyone should because it will deff help avoid accidents.

Thanks everyone for the best wishes, as to the being prepared. I had 2 hands on the wheel and was paying attention. The woman was at a complete stop at a stop sign and she just went full retard and pulled out literally right in front of me. If I wasnt paying attention I would have hit her going so much faster and she probably would have been seriously hurt. The aftermarket parts are all being swapped over to the new car and the only thing to get from the old one is anything that comes stock on a LNF for the most part. It also has a RPD screen lol

Man this is sad. I'm sure you'll be back with a badass car. Cars aren't that important compared to human health/safety.

I still don't understand the accident though. You say you were in a turning lane. You managed to slow down 10mph but still hit a parked car at 40mph. So you were doing 50mph in a turn lane? What is the speed limit on this road? If you were doing 50mph in the turn lane, it sounds like you just jumped into the turn lane. Maybe the other driver was anticipating you to keep going straight due to your high speed and probably thought she could pull out into the turn lane and then merge behind you.

Regardless of what happened, it's good that no one was hurt. Getting the car back for $1650 is a steal.

Best of luck.

If you would've hit the lady that jumped in front of you you more than likely wouldn't have been at fault either and she wouldn't have gotten away with it.
Let me help OP out with this one. If it were you driving and a baby walked out into the road, would you have thought it was wrong to swerve and avoid the baby or would you have plowed right into the baby? His intention wasn't to hit someone else, it was to avoid the impact at hand. Insurance would see this the exact same way as OP not at fault with witnesses.

Hindsight is 20/20.

But after an accident a highway patrolman told me to just hit the person. I swerved and wreck in a case like this and only did damage to my car. Sucks.

That doesn't make any sense. In that situation, the driver who swerved would have to cover everything, not the lady's, because he caused the accident with the other person. The lady's insurance isn't going to cover anything unless her vechicle physically hit that driver's vehicle.

In Wisconsin, if you swerve to avoid an accident, and subsequently cause another accident between you and an innocent bystander, you are at fault for that accident. Basically, if you cannot safely avoid the impact at hand, then you take the impact at hand or you risk being at fault for whatever you do. The same thing goes for deer collisions here. If you hit a deer, it's a no-fault accident, but if you swerve and end up hitting a tree, then it becomes your fault for hitting the tree.

The lady did not cause the OP to go into the other lane. That was the OP's decision. Sucks because he was trying to do the right thing.

Her insurance will never let her be charged with fault if they know what they are doing.

There's no way in hell you can anticipate everything. I'm sure Nate saw the car, gave it its due attention, and reacted the best he could.

He's also a combat veteran. As a vet myself I can tell you, he's paying more attention to his surroundings than you will ever know.

If you've ever taken a driving skills course, the first thig they teach you is to swerve to avoid a collision. Reason being, it gives you a chance to bleed speed, and create a glancing blow, not head on.

In regards to your head on comment, this wasn't some Podunk two lane road afaik, so that wasn't really an issue.

Stop preaching about keeping your head on a swivel when you're actually wrong.

Yeah obviously I would have loved to smash that bitch but I was thinking of best ways to avoid it and there was a small hope to avoiding it all together. The turning lane is extremely long so yeah I was in it for about 5 seconds already slowing down and out of gear. Speed limit was 45.

I bought this car today though

Bummer about the old car especially with the time you spent. Grats on the new car though. I myself wouldn't rebuy anothe cobalt but that's me.

Also it's hard to say what I'd have done in that situation. Had I been in my cobalt prolky would have tried to avoid the accident.

If I was in my grand am I'd prolly have just t boned that bitch and rolled out of my car holding my back.

This new car is absolutely amazing. It's going to be put together nicely. Then amazing pictures will follow. Not sure how it'll look with the gold/chrome LMs. All chrome would be sick.

Is this it?
