simple smart filters.

1. Convert to smart object
2. Image > Adjustments > Shadows & Highlights. Mess with so car still looks normal. The higher the numbers the more contrast in the end.
3. Filter > Sharpen > Unsharp mask. Again mess w/ sliders to get where you want.
4. Layer > New Adjustment layer > Black & White. Set this layer as an overlay. Adjust opacity.

Enjoy.

A pro photographer will tell you otherwise. All pro photogs edit all their pics regardless how good they come out of their memory cards.

I'm a web art director (advertising) currently at VML (www.vml.com) but was trained in print design.
