I have done 2 T/A's and 5 camaros. You have one hell of a project ahead of you. I dont think any of mine were that bad off but at least it gives you something to be proud of when your done. My last 81 looked better than new and had 435hp and 489tq. Good luck!!

Cool, IMO anything 79-81 look ugly. I really like the 77s-78s. Was that a silver with a blue bird on the hood? The silver cars are pretty rare. My neighbor has a blue on blue 77 with a blue bird. His step son has a smokey and the bandit tribute 77.

Correction 455. The 400s are bad ass little motors though. Id either go LSX or 455 if it were my own personal car. My grandpa has a 72 Grand Prix, that he bought brand new. Its still on the original motor and tranny. It still runs perfect. It even still has the points in it. He is gonna swap over to HEI. He is getting to old to jack with them.

And OP welcome to the world of a GM built vehicle. The are rust buckets bad. It appears from your pics, they didnt have the problems solved by the late 70s either.

thanks all and yeah the green one (the one we r rebuilding ) came gold from GM and the parts car is silver.. both came with 400s with turbo 350 trans

the green one is actually a y88 special edition with a larger sway bars and few other things.. we have a 455 sitting in the floor along with a turbo 400 trans.. we also have various parts from a 400 motor like heads, oil pan, intake.. it might end up being a frankenstein with the 400 heads for a higher compression, mind u the entire motor is gona be built to the 450hp range
