New Toy - Front Camera ;)

So tonight, I finished hooking up my newest addition for my Cobalt. Since the Cobalt's are fairly low when lowered on H&R's...I figured it wouldn't be such a bad idea to somehow get a way to tell when I'm pulling close to a curb.

I always hated not pulling close enough, or too far and I'd hit. Well instead of hooking up a backup camera to the rear of my car, I hooked it up in the front.

Includes a 7" TFT LCD Screen with 2 video inputs. Not to mention, the camera has night vision as well.

You can't see the camera if your standing up, I took the pictures leaning down to show you how I mounted it. I made custom brackets to mount it also.

Also installed a new 12,000K HID kit for my high's tonight...

I'll take a picture tomorrow. I just got done hooking it up, ran to McDonalds and it worked nicely. Got within 4 inches of the curb and parked.

Pretty much all the same anymore...Maybe branded differently but you know how that is. My TFT screen is a Pyle and it was all included in the kit.

Haha. I've never seen it done on any car honestly, and I thought I would post up and see how everyone liked it. Just give me credibility

Edit: And yeah, running it from an in-dash would look real nice. I just sold my in-dash or I would do the same. I'm going to be making some sort of custom bracket/holder for it soon though.

I'm experienced enough to drive a car and park. Sometimes you can never judge how far away your front bumper is, and I thought it was a cool idea....And for the price I paid for the complete kit, no way I was passing it up!

Yeah exactly man. I know how to drive a car and know how to park, but there sometimes are those curbs that stick up way to damn far and I don't feel like ripping the front of my bumper off, or scuffing the **** out of it because I pulled too far up and then look like a jackass when all I hear is the front bumper just tearing off when I go to backup...

IMO this would be more useful pointing down at the edge of the lower lip, then there's no guess work involved.

^^ this

im lowered and have eben for 2 years now and sometimes i just dont think the curb is that high and i end up scraping the lil deflector thing on the curb. so i think its a good idea. that way u can get nice and close and not have to be worried. plus seriously whos gonna see the camera when ur standing infront of the car. its not THAT visable. i like this mod any possible chance of a link to the kit?

Yeah you cant see the camera at all when your looking at the car, plus I have mesh grille to put in and Im going to be moving it so I can see through the mesh and it won't be noticeable at night.

Im wondering the same man. I have mesh grille material to put in after I get it painted on Tuesday and Im going to still have the cam there, just make it sit behind the mesh and still have a clear view.

Thats what I was thinking that seems to give it a little protection and angling it down like posted before seems like a smart Idea

Im thinking about buying another cam and sticking it on the back since the monitor has 2 video sources. Thats another reason I bought it!

And also, the monitor is meant to stick over your mirror. There is adjustable/spring loaded mounts on the back that clamp over your mirror. 2 on the top, then the adjustable 2 on the bottom.
