ok so...just got my nails done and got them painted this neat purple ...see below


I was wondering what you guys think about doing a purple like that on the top section of the car to a fade of gunmetal grey or metalic silver. i just wish i had a better pic...its a really awesome (and not too gay purple)

my personal opinion? fading is ok, but I wouldn't fade into a gunmental gray or metallic silver. Seeing as how the gray/silver would be a lighter color than that purple, it wouldn't look right. now if you faded down into that particular purple, that's another story, matter of fact, i think a flat greyish silver would blend into that shade nicely. If you're going for metallics, make them both metallic, or it wouldn't look right as well. So in the end, I'd say use a flat silverish/gray shade on the top, and fade into that purple as the color reaches the bottom. My .02.

 

that actually would make more sense with the fade. LOL and i also will stick with metalic flake in both colors. the purple in the lights looks as though there is very small blue, purple and pink metal flake...its very hard to tell but in some of our test sprays we have come pretty close.
ill probably stick to a gunmetal and polished alum. wheel as well...chrome is just too bling and back wouldnt look right.

 

depending on how you fade i think that could turn out looking nice. There not many people with custom jobs like that atleast on cobalts.

If the color appears to have metallics undertones in the light, then definately go for the metallic versions of the shades. The sparkle effect in the light would be pretty slick I think. I agree with SS as well, it definately would be a unique paint scheme.

 

Ya iv been thinking to go w/ a 2 tone on my car. After i get a CF trunk and hood iv been thinking of painting the pillars and roof black too. but i dont know how that would look. and i dont know how to photoshop at all . But my car is victory red w/ tinted windows so i think it wont be to bad.

Are you talking about a paint scheme that looks similar to the new mitsubishi that's coming out(there's a thread somewhere in her for it, I'll find it).

used to have dark hair...right now i have blonde. i bleached it about a year or so ago and i just never went back to dark. i dont know why but most people say i look a lot more approachable with blonde hair....like i was mean looking or something before.

Hate to stray from the topic, but I agree. But then again I have a soft spot for blondes.

As for your car, I think that purple would look really good with a metallic silver. I think the silver on top fading to purple would be hot! So would the purple on top fading to the gunmetal grey. I think I would lean more towards the purple and gunmetal grey.

Either way I can't to see the pics when it's done.

Another Long Island cobalt. Where are you from badg1rl. I've yet to see another cobalt ss/sc other then darksun280's.

 

I had a geo tracker that faded up top from purple down to silver. Looked alright I guess, would look pretty good on a girl's balt though. I had a pic somewhere, off to search the hard drive.

i live out in riverhead..used to work out in centereach. but now i am only in riverhead and you can catch me at deer park in the summers or sometimes in the evenings at my bfs shop in deer park.
