production camaro revealed
not sure if this is a repost but its on autoblog today
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/07/18/2...maro-revealed/
only 2 small things i can nitpick and complain about...the chevy badge on the front should be the old style camaro logo with the red white and blue bars and the back up lights look like an after thought...after all this time they couldve been better integrated into the body

All in all not a bad looking car. Not liking the gauges down in front of the shifter IMO a BAD place to hide them! Nothing like taking your eyes that far off the road while racing someone And PLEASE, PLEASE for the love of God Chevy you MUST come out with hide-away headlights for the RS version as an option at least!

The Cartribe crew has procured a few shots and the initial details of the production Chevrolet Camaro ahead of its official unveiling this Monday. The Camaro will come in LS, LT and SS trim, equipped with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic. Engine choices include either a 296 hp, 3.6-liter V6 or a 416 hp 6.2-liter V8 which will feature cylinder deactivation to boost fuel economy. Underneath the retro sheet metal is a full-independent suspension and StabiliTrak traction control system. Four-pot Brembo brakes are mounted up front on the SS variant and the 3,700-pound coupe will reportedly have a weight balance of 52/48, front/rear. The neuvo-retro theme is carried inside with a gauge cluster inspired by the 1969 model, along with leather seats and blue LED lighting.
We'll have more specs and images as information becomes available.

Now that I think about it that's actually not terrible considering the 4th gen's weighed what, around 3500lbs?

I read in road and track, that they are considering putting the LNF in the LS model come 2011/2012. They said it would just be a better option for gas mileage with good power rather than a 240hp base 6 cyl.

i dont think those gauges are necessary in a racing situation... They're just for Torque, Oil Temp, Battery Voltage and Oil Pressure...stuff you can check less frequently and theyre prob redundant anyway...im sure u can get that info on the cluster display screen...

Some words to note , the car in the ALL the pics u see today are V6 versions , the SS is a bit different visually . You can see the SS and the Z28 on Monday( unless those get leaked too ) when GM releases every last detail .
The vital gauges in the 4 console cluster are able to be seen in digital format in the DIC . Its more of a gimmick thing , 2 of the guages in there are not even anything youd look at regularly ....torque output guage and a fuel economy guage . This is 2008 not 69 , you wont have to look away from a straightline view to see anything that should in your line of view .
Overall , Im happy , theres little things I dont like ...but yeah , me IZ happy . The Cobalt will be getting lots of garage sitting time very soon
