I find that I do that too in anticipation on the next shift; I hold my right hand up near the stick.

My first run was against an '06 Dodge Charger R/T Daytona. My second run was against a 73 Dodge Charger.

And yes, I did use my nifty camera pod to film this

Yes I did beat it.

 

One thing I learned when going from 2nd to third is this.

If you try to push strait up (which you looked like you where doing in a dorkish way LOL) you will often times get stuck. However if you push sideways and up it will go up perfectly everytime.

I miss third when I try and shift like that, I tend to palm the shifter with an open hand and just push up. It will hop over and line up no problem
