srt and 1 lonely cobalt track day

well, went out to kearney this past saturday. It was very hot and everyone was running slower than expected. I had the 1st gear limited boost which helped on my launch, but was killing my 60ft.s since there really wasn't much power there. I still managed to get a new personal best out of her though. only thing done to it is raised rev limit, no tq management, and limited boost in 1st. My best run, not on vid, is a 14.6@96.7 and my best 1/8th was a 9.5@77 with my best trap speed that I'm really proud of was a 79mph trap speed in the 1/8th. Even with no power really in first, I was trapping 7mph higher than before in just the 1/8th. I'm still on a stock motor! Plus I found out how bad I was heat soaking. I was only trapping 3mph higher in the 1/4. So I definitely need a bigger heat exchanger. My car is alot closer to 13's than I thought, just gotta fix 1st gear so those 60's will come down and get a heat exchanger. I have no doubt that I will run mid-high 13's with just that done still on a stock motor.

here is a compilation vid. all the srt's are not stock. temps were over 100degrees.

i bet you're losing power by shifting higher without proper mods. did you tune for a higher shift point? and don't get me wrong, but 14.6 is not close to 13's.

actually, you didn't read my post accurately. By shifting higher, I gained 7mph in just the 8th mile. I still gained 3mph in the 1/4mile. The reason I didn't gain more was because I was heat soaking. Simply meth injection or a cobra heat exchanger would solve that issue. The reason I didn't get a quicker e.t. was because I had the boost limited too much in 1st gear. I couldn't get out of the hole fast enough to produce. 1st gear was so sluggish that as soon as I hit 2nd, it just felt like I went from 100hp to over 200hp. I didn't bring the laptop with me to change it and play with it. But I'm going back to 100% boost in 1st cause I'm picking up some hoosier qtp's. Next time I go back I'll have a heat exchanger or water/meth injection and slicks. I promise you I will trap over 80mph in just the 1/8th mile and pretty damn close to 105mph in just the 1/4 mile. Plus, I won't really have any power mods!
