All that new found traction means theres a new weak link. It'll be clutch or axles, unless you really know how to launch.

probably clutch before axles. that would be my guess. Main reason axles are snapping is because people wheel hopping like crazy. I have solid motor mounts and now these tires. I should be good on the axles. But I am worried about the clutch.

its not just because of the wheelhop

its still gonna put TREMENDOUS stress on your axles/clutch.. a 2800lb car moving from a dead stop..

axles go bye bye, wheel hop is a part of it, but our stock axles are weak as ****, mine broke with absolutely no wheel hop and on street tires. also those are gonna be some extremely tight clearences man, i run a 26x9.5 hoosier on my car and i get some rub above 95mph from the tires expanding and hitting the bottom of the struts.

I know of 2 members on here that have this exact tire size and with a small amount of grinding on the control arm mount, they said no rubbing.

If your axles break I have a spare set of stock axles laying around. I'll be looking forward to a PM after you get back from the track. No for real though man, good luck I hope you have a hell of a 60" time. I have stage II axles and exedy stage III clutch, with DRs it makes a hell of a combo!

lol, I'm getting ready to deploy to Kyrgyzstan, so if the axles do find a way to break, the car will sit till I get back, about 4 months or so, and then I'll be upgrading with beefier axles.

Sway bar mount just to clear things up. The mount on the strut.

well, the cheapest possible set up is pretty much whatever you can find. I got lucky and came across these slightly used for 200 bucks. You can find 15" slicks even cheaper. But good luck finding a wheel in our bolt pattern and then you have to grind the brake caliper down to get the wheel to fit.

My whole set up with wheels and tires cost me 400. That's 2 wheels at about 100 a piece with shipping and tax, and the tires at 100 a piece. This was the cheapest route I could find.

im sure youve seen it already, but if your going to buy slicks, i suggest you either buy the upgraded axles now....
or be prepared to replace them, and possibly take the risk of doing other damage when they break....

my car hasn't been through much abuse with wheel hop. The first mod I ever did was engine mounts. So I think my axles will be fine. Slicks don't break axles, wheel hop does. If you want good 60's, get slicks. And solidify your motor mounts. 400 bucks or cheaper is what you should spend on rims and slicks.
