Smile Vids of my car...

Last night I made a trip to Mobile Dragway and was able to get only one pass in. The first pass a guy in a Ford Pinto drag car lost control in front of me and hit the wall... My second pass I was able to run all the way and I ran an 8.84@73.77 MPH. This track is 50 foot short so if you add about .3 seconds to that time you get a 9.14@a higher MPH. 60' was a 2.19...the wheel hop is HORRIBLE in this car...lol. Tire pressure was at 20 psi.

Vid: http://videos.streetfire.net/player....B-FBB9D292EC61

Now it's time for some street car action. I raced my friend Ryan's Toyota Celica GT-S which has an unbolted exhaust(REALLY LOUD), an CAI, and an Apex'i Power FC. His best time at that track is an 8.75.

First race is from a roll at 30 MPH...(second gear for me at about 2500ish, he is at like 6,000 in lift)

http://videos.streetfire.net/player....3-991E60775216

Second race is a little more interesting than first with a steady pull same MPH I think, maybe a little higher.

http://videos.streetfire.net/player....D-751C364D70D9

Third race, again Cobalt pulls away....yeah!!!

http://videos.streetfire.net/player....1-3D8A1EBB7D84

Fourth race, same thing...

http://videos.streetfire.net/player....6-84D03BE17F9C

It was really exciting...I don't think I would of been able to stay with him without my Injen Intake though. Can't wait for some more mods...

Enjoy!

Vince.

Yeah it's a wonder I could even hear to drive. He says he still needs to do some tuning on his power fc(associated with timing and lift). And he wants to run again when he gets a good tune on it. But hopefully by then I'll either have the GM Stage II or Intense Stage III. But I need to get rid of the wheel hop first...any suggestions on that?

Vince.

Don't forget that he didn't have a back seat and you also had one extra passenger to do the camera work

I know that lowering your car will help with it, correct? I just don't want to have to spend 300 bucks in mounts just to keep my car from wheel hoping...but at the track I left from just off of idle, rolling into the gas and it wheel hopped almost instantaneously. Wish there was a way I could get polyurethane inserts for my mounts, but the cobalt mounts are designed quite a bit differently than the tib's were...

true coilovers are no more or less stiff necessarily, unless they're adjusted that way. and i'm not talking about those adjustable spring sleeves you add with stock struts.

stiffer struts and lowering would help, some of it has to do with the geometry of the suspension and other stuff too

Thanks man...I'm not real sure about that. I do know that he is wanting to get it on the dyno so he can acurately tune his lift and timing. That car is basically all HP and zero torque. He actually asked me if we could go from a 30 roll so that way he could be in "lift"...lol. We should of done some digs....now that would of been interesting. I know that his best time at the dragstrip I was at is an 8.75, and my first pass was an 8.84...

he means wheel hop sucks, plain and simple, and hes right.

You would be surprised what a 150 lb passenger can do. Me and my brother run neck and neck from 40 - 120. You throw a person in my car or his car and one of us will lose by atleast 2-3 cars.

Hey man. Glad to see that someone is near me. I think I might have seen you one time in Gulf Shores. The SS/SC's are very rear in the gulf coast. Do you ever go to any car meets on the weekends? I would really like to see what you've done to your car. Nice vids. Surprised that GTS kept up.

Yeah I am usually in Mobile on Friday/Saturday nights. Usually surpriseing people with my car too...lol. What kind of ride do you have? Reason why I ask is because I have heard of another Cobalt SS S/C over around the Daphne area.
