i may have and idea as to what it is. Im willing to bet its just the sound of the header/dp combo as my car has the same "raspy" tone w/ header and dp, but before i never had a problem. The sound is hard to describe, its kind of an odd raspy w/ a hiss to to it.

also, like your car, my car also sounded good from behind the car and also from the outside, the main area for hearing it is in the car while driving. I had my brother drive past me a few times to see if i could here the noise outside of the car.

I checked over my set up 5 to 7 times, and i am coming to think that it may just be the way it sounds. Everything is tight, nothing is rubbing.( I also have a race header.)

have you broke it in yet? Im hoping that like my cbe the more miles i put on it, the better it sounded.

well if the noise is coming from the front it would maybe be the heat sheild, i would just take that off you dont need it there i dont have mine on and i have no problems, and if its coming from that back of you or under you check to see where the hangers in the back you might not hav one of the rubber hangers on in the right postion and the hanger on the exhuast might be rubbing or rattle n the hanger thats on the car theres nothing really other than that i could think that it would be less its not your exhaust making the noise....

 

check for exhaust leak. go re-install those gaskets. take off and put on again. try and center the gasket as best as possible. I had the same problem when installing my LSJ header and my XTC 2.5 inch downpipe at 2 different times.

try that then let us know

Plus you gotta remember your getting alot more exhaust flow now than stock. My altima has the same type of rasp to at about 4000 rpm is where you really hear it. Anything below 3000-4000 I hear nothing at all so I wouldn't worry about it. Overall it sounds nasty man I like it. What else you got for mods?

 

alright guys i have a diagnosis... lol... my dp disconnected from my header and was just sitting on the bolts basically... the nuts came loose so it broke free... no other leaks than that.. well my plug for my o2 sensor fell out too.. but i toook it to car x so they could tighten the dp and everything up and check for leaks.. so now im good.. air tools ftw, hand tools ftl lol. so im gunna go get a video of it now... its soooo much better...

so these 4 hours of filming lead to nothing...but getting under the car and seeing that the exhaust was disconnected couldn't have taken more than 3 seconds.

^^wow your cool... dude i didnt have time to get under the car and when i did i didnt notice that it was off... it was still attached just not tight...

anyway i have a couple ( like 4 more vids for yall to laugh at...) or say that its nice sounding or whatever...
