Yea I know. Now if I wrecked the maro then they could come buy w/e they want. Its the cobalt though, I could careless about parting it out. You guys can buy my injen CAI, its crushed...ill sell it cheap lol.
That sucks man. If they do total it, hopefully you can get a good deal on another one.
But, if I remember right the sensor for the airbags is either dead center of the car behind the bumper or there is one sensor under the headlight in the center of the head light. The side airbag sensors are inside the doors themselves. So, dont slam your doors shut real hard. I replaced side air bags on a 2005 Saab 9-5 Aero cause a lady got pissed at her husband and slammed the door on the car. Air bags went off. $5600 in repairs. Needed new air bags, trim, leather seats, and some more. I found it funny.

cant be frame damage. its a unibody. and considering the bags didnt go off, it might not be totaled despite how bad it looks. but it all depends on how straight the unibody stayed. glad you're ok. thats the important part.
Wow man thats terrible I was in a similar accident in one of my Grand Am's that I had where someone cut me off and it was on the side like that and the airbags didn't go off. Like people said on here already when I took the front bumper off and looked the air bag sensor didn't have enough impact around it so technically it shouldn't have gone off just like yours.
Nah.... vultures at least circle first....
Glad you were able to walk away from it though man.
I talked to him yesterday, and he said he was hoping to find out something today! Hell I just wanted his wheels if they total it, might as well let them have my chipped wheels if they are going to junk it!
That sucks.
As for the airbags, a lot of times they don't go off for a reason, people tend to lose sight of that. The safest way for YOU to hit the AIRBAG is head-on for front airbags or...."ear-on" I guess is the best way to put it for side curtains, which is why the airbag sensors are set where they are, to register only the crashes where it is beneficial to hit the airbag and not deploy when it is unsafe to hit the airbag. With the way you hit, mostly on the front corner, you probably swerved at the last minute to try and avoid hitting someone. In that case, your body isn't moving straight forward, forces are going to push your body to the left of the steering wheel. Enter the airbag (had it deployed) - it's not going to meet you head-on, you're going to get hit by the SIDE of the airbag, which could in turn push your head back into the driver's side window. Not that safe, and has the potential for some really serious injury, let alone the factor of your spine position more likely being twisted or leaning to the left as opposed to facing forward and straight as it would hitting the airbag dead center.

OUCH!!! Glad you are ok man.
Two cobalts went down on the same day on this forum that we know of. Gah everyone be careful lets not make a week long trend of wrecks.
In my opinion seeing my moms was the same condition yet more towards the middle(air bags went off), but her passenger side was like that. I will say totalled. Parts for these cars are HIGH. She had a 05 LT.
The front subframe installed is close to $1000 bucks. The part itself is $860.
Hood - $500
Fender - $350
Headlight - $350
Maybe some suspension parts on that wheel area - $500.
He's going to be pushing it real close to that 70% damage ratio. Mine was around 25-30% and I only had $2200 in damages.
