customized front bumper idea..

was thinknig of doing my own rendition of a GXP front bumper for the G5. was gonna take a regular Cobalt SS front bumper, and get the grills for a G6 GXP or some other GXP model that will fit and combine the two. id be using fiberglass and body filler where needed. was trying to a do a photoshop edit, but i really suck at it. was thinknig of this idea to have a one-off bumper. very aware of the time needed and the pain in the ass that it might become. just a feeler of an idea and want to see opinions on it. ill do my best to photoshop a pic to post.

what about just taking the G5 GT bumper and putting the Shiny mesh in the grilles and adding the SS Front Lip?

Maybe make the grilles a little wider and some thing has to change at the bottom of the bumper. It just doesn't look right

like i said, its kinda butchered. have other ways of going about this, one which i think would be easiest, but the matter of it flowing right is the prob. thats the grill from a g6 gxp. i was thinking the g8 would fit better... the lower i would change as well to flow better. it also doesnt help due to getting the scale of the pictures right. the grills might be small than they should be.

I also think going more to a G8 style would suit this much better. The smaller upper grille will make it easier to work with as well as the lower grille giving it some attitude. Emulate that look if you want my .02

I toyed around for a few minutes with the G8 stuff. You'd have alot more work to do as far as molding and adding some character to the stock bumper so the whole thing flows. Our damn headlights make it difficult...

Yeah not a fan of the G6 grill on the car. I agree that the G8 would most likely look much better. Also LS6Rally's suggestion of the shiny mesh grills, where can I get something like that in black?

i've been taking a look at this again, only way i realized that the larger split pontiac grille will look right is if the lower portion of the bumped is split as well. to my understanding, this = P.I.T.A. haha.... i think this is an idea that should be left to places like extreme dimensions to work out

Yea when I tried to make a custom cavalier bumper, I found out I'd need 4-500 to make it happen

Not cheap and not easy

it just upsets me knowing that there arent any companies who made these sort of aftermarket bumpers for the G5.. of course we have rk sport and all them fun bumpers, but nothing resembling a performance pontiac, just show. so sad hahaha
