09 SS/TC Not much boost and a P0130

Does anyone know what could cause a pending code of p0130 ? The car wont build over 10 to 12 ish psi and i can hear some extra/new hissing going on under throttle. I assume a boost leak. But i camt see anything obvious. I will have to bosst leak teat ot tonight at super after work. I thought maybe some would have a bit of an idea what that code refers too.

the code is for your A/F sensor, thats why it wont boost well. It is seeing circuit interference that could be caused by a bad battery

A bad battery? The car seems to start fine. Is there any way the low boosting would be caused by one of the 02's being bad ? And if so. Which one. The car really doesnt have much power now. If it doesnt have an actual boost leak. Then it would have to be something causing it to open thr bpv or something. To bleed off the boost over 12 ish psi. Idk.. Im kinda lost really. Lol

I just had the same issue. see here https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/prob...needed-321883/

The wiring on my front 02 sensor had rubbed through on the valve cover, it's has a clip that holds it against the valve cover.

The 02 sensor grounded out, blew the 02 sensor and blew the pin on the ECU.

I had to rewire 02 sensor, new sensor, new computer.

Check wiring first, replace 02 sensor second. Then maybe check for bad computer.

Look on the right side of the valve cover. Under the hot side piping. It's this black connector with yellow tab. See how mine has electrical tape on it? That's where I had to repair. Check the whole wiring around that connector down to the 02 sensor.

I'd say I had bad luck.

The front 02 sensor wire is on the right side of the valve cover. Hold on let me get a pic.

Thanks for the info man.. But i am happy to report that my 02 wiring seems to be ok. And no wheres near the valve cover. I checked the whole wire. It is fairly short. And it seems fine all the way. The 02 may be bad. Bit the wirong and conector seems 100 percent ok. So heres hoping my ecu os ok.

Yeah if the wiring is all good then grab a new front 02 sensor. about $100-125. Will need an 02 sensor socket and PB blaster most likely. Oh and you will need small Donald Trump like hands.

Lol...the small hands i already have. ;-) But would it deffinitly be the top 02 right by the turbo there. Or the bottom one after the cat ? Also .. Would that cause my ltft to be near minus 25. And not boost much at all ? I STILL DONT have an actual engine light on yet. Torque just tells me its a pending code. So one to MAYBE come up soon. Idk...

Usually takes several drive cycles to set the code. The front 02 sensor is what controls STFT and LTFT so yes if the sensor is bad it would screw with your fuel trims.

It is very very unlikely it's the rear 02 sensor.

What's the AFR reading? Might want to bring up a graph gauge of that one in Torque to see what it's doing.

Have a look at a MAF graph with the car running. Should move predictably with air and boost.

P0101 is usually a boost leak. which could explain why your car is running like ****.

Time to do a boost leak test.

ok.. I will go boost leak test it now. O will post back in about an hour . maybe a bit less. Lol... On my way home from work, the lower down into the negative my ltft went. The less and less boost it would let me make. At one piont i had a ltft of -28 amd i coupd only boost 20kpa tops. Coupd barely do hills. Turn the car off. And back on again. It at least let me make 80 kpa. About 10 psi.

To be honest, you should stop driving the car or not even remotely attempt to boost it.

-28 is terrible

So i boost leak tested the car. And surprize. All i can hear is air rushing out of the intercooler on the passanger side. So i took off my bumper. And what did i find. A crack about 6 inches long. Well... I guess this explains what happened and what os going on. 23 psi hptune for a year and a half. And pop goes da intercooler. Now to find a reasonably affordable one in Canada. So the exchange rate doesnt kill me.

That's great that you found it. Hopefully it will clear up your p0130. Sucks you are in Canada. I'll be giving my stock intercooler away at some point. Technically you should be upgrading it

I plan on upgrading to a aftermarket zzp one at income tax time. For now, i came across the deal of a life time on another near mint stocker. I know it will only happen again. But this one will get me back up and running untill income tax time for sure. I couldnt pass it up the price was so good. As for my p0301. It went away all on its own. But then started throwing codes for the maf. And codes about runnong rich. And codes about how much it hated me for driving it home with a cracked intercooler. Lol..

I would say that the intercooler being cracked is my whole problem.
