12V plug not working?

Yet another thing the GM techs are working on tomorrow. The 12 volt plug just under the air controls is only feeding 0.01 volts to anything attached. The one down by the e-brake is working fine.. 12.54 -12.57 volts steady. Checked fuses and they are all fine. What could be wrong?

did you check the fuses under the hood as well? Because the obd2 port and front cigarette lighter are on the same fuse, and thats in the fuse box under the hood

I took mine in to get fixed with some other issues (wind noise, bump in steering, hard shifts on an auto), and they fixed it. They haven't finished my work order so I don't know what they did to fix it. I'll know Monday.

There is a fuse somewhere that blows. I'll know tonight when my car is done and I get a copy of the work order.

Samsung A720 12V Car Charger and an iPod dock that plugs into the other 12V plug. I can take pics if needed. The draw of the 12V car charger is 770 mA... hardly anything through the 15A fuse. Funny thing is, only the plug that is used for the car charger blows, the one by the ebrake still works.

Probably. They wouldn't tell me which fuse was blown. I checked to see if there were any blown before I took it in, and the one under the hood for accessory power and the trunk wasn't blown, and there wasn't anything for those plugs in the fuse box in the center console. Dumb stealership. Thank God for bumper to bumper warranty!

I've popped the one under my AC controls a few times now. With a phone charger and a G-Tech. I think that circuit needs a little bigger fuse. I just use the one by my ebrake most of the time. It hasn't popped yet.

I'm thinking so too. I think what's in there is a 5 amp right now. Next time it goes I'm going to replace it myself and put in a 10 amp or a 7.5. Enough is enough!

LTR fuse 15 amp under the hood.
Could be something wrong with the part you put in the lighter,There is no way that would blow a 15 amp fuse with that equipment unless you wired some aftermarket electronics to that circut.

The fuse is to protect the wire !!

You could create a big problem for your self once the wire heats up instead of the fuse blowing and the all melt together.

The lighter is fed straight from the battery you have a short somewhere if not in the equipment your plugging in.
