2.2L Question

hey guys!

Got a question and I wanted to see if any of you 2.2 guys have had the same issue or not.

My Mother in law has an 05 2.2 Sedan.

She has been having the problem of sometimes when she switches between her low and hi beams, that there will be a moment of not having any lights at all.

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and knows if there is a fix for it, or a service bulletin out or not.

Thank in advance!

Yeah, from what she described, she actually goes for a second or two without any lights at all, leaving her driving in the dark.

I've noticed a slight delay, but nothing as long as you described.

Sounds like the relay is sticking..

had a similar thing happen on a 95 Grand Am. Cycled high to low several times in a row and the problem never came back, worked fine for an additional 10,000, until I sold it.

You could just take it to the dealer if it does this all the time.

my headlites go completely out when on hi with left blinker on. with rite blinker on they go to hi and low beam at the same time. i had my rite headlite replaced because of water in the lens and now this happens.

Luckily I've never had that happen, so I'd utilize that old warranty, baby!

Well, I told her it might be the relay, and I think she is going to take it to the dealer.
I will let you guys know what comes of it!

the switch is shot.
there are no relays
it's all controlled by the BCM...

just had this repaired in my 05 base Cobalt coupe.
As it gets worse, the headlights will shut off when flipping the signal lights on... very exciting when getting back into a lane after passing someone.

That sucks

So the BCM makes clicking noises just like relays when i turn the lights on and off? Becuase I can hear clicks similar to relays under the hood when fudginf around with my lights

i was out in the shop when they changed my headlight switch and I asked if there was a relay or something... the guy doing the job told me that all these new GMs were running everything right through the BCM so if the 'relay' in the bcm conks out, your fuckaroo... you've gotta replace that computer to the tune of $300-400... ouch.

the clicks are FAKE. get this. i was riding the other day, and i was waiting to turn, so the turn signal was on. meanwhile the car was bitching that i didn't have my seatbelt on.. so the clicking STOPPED while it chimed and continuted after it was done.

I was getting at the fact that, when the engine is off, and the hood is up, If i stand next to my car and flash the high beams on and off, there's a relay clicking noise coming from underneath the fusebox

there has got to be a relay SOMEPLACE. i highly doubt it's all electronic... that would be a lot more complex than i really needs to be. i'm thinking that the sending unit it probably electronic and the actual lamp is attached to a 3 way relay (high, low, off) for blink, DRL and well, off.
