2.4L Having difficulty starting (and shifter issues)

So today it is insanely hot, a record for my entire province. 99 degrees fahrenheit. Too hot.

But anyway, I went out to my Pursuit...turn the key...and it just makes the typical starting noise...too bad the engine doesn't start with it..it took about 10 seconds to ge t it to start...

Also, when it starts normally....it goes to 500rpm for about 1.5 seconds before it kicks up to the full idle @ 1500 (briefly, falls as it warms up to about 1000)...normal?

Only 320km on the odometer...

Cause for concern?

Also...my shifter is annoyingly difficult getting into 1st and 2nd...at any speeds. Problem?

Mine starts and goes right to about 1100rpm and then gets lower as the engine warms.

My shifter cables had to be slightly relocated from the factory. It was causing vibration. Could be yours need adjustment as well.

Neither thing you mentioned is normal. Have the dealer fix it.

Why is everybody so hesitant about bringing your car back to the dealer when these problems arise? You just drove it off the dealer lot and you're already having problems? Bring it back to them!!!!

People don't want to bring their car to dealers because its a pain in the **** for something they jsut bought...and some of us need our cars!!!!

Few dealers will give you a loaner car without a hell of a fight

So go and bitch about it on a website instead of getting it fixed. Good idea.

Dude, he asked a question. It is better to go to the dealer with knowledge that something is not normal so they can't say yes it is.

Obviously he knows something isn't right or he wouldn't be asking. Yes, the dealer will try and get out of it because they don't like doing free work, and they will put up a fight about a loaner, but you just paid them lots of money for a car you aren't happy with.

All I'm trying to say is if you aren't happy with your car, don't ask if every one elses car is also broken or acting the same way, just go get it fixed.

If this is not the place to ask these types of questions, why is this section reserved for it?
