2006 Problems?

After reading through the forums I see lots of problems with the 2005's. How are the 2006's treating people for the SS SC?

I've had mine since Sept 05, and aside from the weird idle thing, I've had to have my Outside Temperature sensor replaced...that's it, and I have 4235 miles on it. *Knock on wood*

1. Clip loose inside trunk lid. Noise problem.
2. Roof metal weather strip loose.
3. Driver door creeking. Hinge repaired.
4. Loose plastic piece inside spoiler. Only hear when opening and closing trunk lid.
5. Glove box noise when closed and driving.
6. Rotors badly grooved. 5180 km.
7. Right rear suspension noise (clunking) over minor bumps. Really loud over larger bumps.
8. Waiting for next problem.

All in all it is a below $30,000.00 car so I'm not surprised. I figure the first time I get a hassle for any repairs from the dealer, the car will go and I will not buy a GM product again. Too bad lousy parts are killing it for those that have to assemble the car though.

Cruise control was a biggie for me
Clunking from driver front
Fan blower motor makes noise when cold
Rattles all over the place/sunroof is a bad one
Window on drivers side makes noise going up and down
Passenger inside door handle loose but has been fixed
Sometimes when at WOT the car will stop accelerating for a second.. then start going again. Lets call it a hiccup.

Thats all I can think of for now.. Im pretty sure there are more.

I wonder why it's mainly the Canucks who are complaining...maybe it's becasue it's something we tend to do very well!!!

Holly crap, man a live I think I am going to steer clear of the Cobalt. I enjoyed the ride but not enough to enjoy all the problems people are having. Think it's time to look into something else?!?

Dude, dont talk like that. Get an SS S/C and youll love it. Ive had mine for almost 2 months and about 3000 M on it and I love it. You wont find a car in this price range that doesnt rattle over time, and the other problems are all covered under warranty. I think the only real problem we need to be concerned with is the factory clutch. You gotta be careful with it as it wasnt exactly designed for all-day spirited driving. Something most of us SS owners all enjoy...

Had mine for 2 months and only have 700 miles on it, I did notice a clunck when closing the truck but thought maybe it had a small piece of ice from maybe a small amount of water that may have gotten by the spoiler gaskets, havent heard it since it has gotten warmer but when it goes for its first service will def. have it checked, so far it is a pretty cool ride and love to cruise around with the sunnroof open and the stereo or XM cranked up.

I have a 06 SS SC and my wife has a 06 SS N/A. My wifes car had to have the drivers door realigned because when it got cold outside it would slightly rub on the lower fender making a creeking noise. So far my car has been great (except the minor idle problem), we have had these for 6 months and would buy them all over again

You sure that isn't the rev limiter kicking in?

Realize, where you posted. Realize people come to this forum because they have a lot of problems. If you hop on over to stangnet.com and check their forums, they'll have the same stuff.

Also realize it's a new model car. When the Focus came out in 2001, they had more than a dozen recalls in the first year of production. In fact I think they broke some kind of record for the amount of recalls it had.

Thinking about foreign cars? Like a honda? Their new redesign has had all kinds of suspension and shock problems.. They've had their problems too.

Just keep it in mind. No matter what car you buy, you have a chance of getting one with some problems.

I like the car. I also like my in-laws Impala SS/SC. It's a chevy so the interior is behind the times, and it has some rattles here and there, but what do you want? Chevy's have rattles. Though I'll say our Cobalt has fewer than any other chevy I've ever driven to date. And their Blazer had the most.

And I used to be a diehard ford man. Both lines have their good and bad points. The great thing about GM cars right now is that they're hurting so bad for sales, you can get some awesome deals on them. For our Non-SS. We ended up getting 4k off the sticker price, paid no delivery fees, and got an extended warranty too. hehe. You try to do that with any foreign car manufacturer besides Kia or Hyundai. (and yes, I owned a Kia, NEVER BUY A KIA. No matter how bad you think you have it, you don't have it THAT bad.)

Think Toyota is better? I owned 2 of them, My first Toyota was a little Tercel with a stick shift. The hydraulic shifter had issues sometimes in cold weather where it would actually stick or not engage properly. Never was able to get that fixed because it was intermittent. Also had shock bushing problems. In cold weather they shrank up and when you'd drive over a bump there'd be this extramely loud noise as the shocks moved. It wasn't pleasant.

My corolla came with a dead speaker. God that fixed. 2 years into the warranty had power window problems. had the same issue with the shocks that I had with the tercel. And other issues. And both of those cars had been around for a LONG time, long enough to work out all the kinks in them, that's for sure.

I've had my 06 for a while, have about 7,000 miles and have had NO problems... and like some of the others said, this is a new car... so problems will come up, and problems will be fixed...

I've only had mine for 2500 miles and i haven't had a single problem yet from it. I guess my luck has changed and has been for the better for once. This sucks that you guys are having these kinds of problems, i couldn't be any more happier with this car. Good luck to all who needs it. I need to go see my baby now to make sure she's okay, especially after reading these post.

SharpSS (Yellow 2.0 S/C)

I have noticed a few rattles that need to be fixed. Seat belts squeak a lttle. Road noise bumps are a lttle loud @ times from the back end. The rim paint seems to be a little cheap & flakes easily (already saw scores on the rims). I've seen more knicks in the paint that I would like also (I don't peel out either).

I totally agree with what most people have said though. I paid 22,000 dollar for a car with great performance & I love the styling more than any vehicle in it's price range. & with mods to come, & not beating the crap out of it I'll be happy for a long time.

Adore its great class features & Enhance the negative ones as I will !!!!!!!!!!
