2009 SS in shop for second time in 3 weeks

So i just got my 2009 SS about 3 weeks ago and its in the shop for the second time today.
The first time was minor. The right ceiling clip wasnt holding the headliner up (near the sunroof button).

But last night, i was just leaving a gas station when my car lost about 80% of its power.
On the DIC (heh) i was seeing "Service Traction / Engine Power Reduced / and some other service error". My performance display was reading 18 for the A/F ratio when i was idling. and it was only 18, because thats the max the gauge will go.

So i pressed the onstar button to get a diagnostic. apparently my car is throwing a lot of electrical error codes and i had to slowly crawl to the closest chevy dealer. and the POS dealer said they will only give me a car to drive if its in the shop more than a day.

Seriously... wtf... my 01 cavalier that had 109k miles never had a problem like this. i shouldnt have ever sold it.
Chevy is not on the top of my list anymore for a new car in the future...

Anyone else have any problems like this?

I would talk to the manager about that, when i had my truck "still under warranty" any work that would be done, from bearing being replaced, to the AC being worked on i always had a rental. Even if it was only for a few hours. I think it may be in the agreement somewhere.

The 08/09 fail stories seem to be epic around ths place.....

I Figured in 08 they would have worked out most of the bugs... Seems like alot of ppl have been having these weird problems with the LNF's... ?

When I first bought my car I had to take it in to get little things fixed (including the damn shift knob and sunroof a couple of times) at least 15 times. However, now with 50K ont he car I have not had any problems.

As far as the lemon clause in the warranty from GM, it states that you have to have the SAME component fixed/replaced 3 times then on the verifiable (by GM of course) fourth time they will lemon the car. Typically if you get to the third repair on a component they make sure to repair it correctly. The only other thing you have is that some states have lemon laws that are state regualted, however they only apply to used cars.

Does this apply in Canada too?

Ive only had my 08 in for the front passenger side amber lights. Some how the terminal was bent inside the unit, not allowing the bulbs to be lit. easy 1 hour fix. Only 1000 miles on it though. lol

so this is the infamous limp mode. think god it has never happened to me but to let u know about the rental. On;y if u own a cadillac do they have to put u in a car right away. If u have a chevy they have to put u in one if they r going to have to keep it overnight. This is the contract u signed with chevy eventhough it sucks

I don't know about the laws in Canada. I do believe that the warranty is pretty much the same for cars sold in Canada, but you can check the owner's manual to be sure. All the warranty info should be in there.

found out what was wrong

i found out 2 days ago what was "wrong".
the ecm supposedly took a dump.
i called the GM help line right after that cause the dealer told me 2 weeks to a month before its fixed. and the GM line told me that the ECMs are on the way but wont be there till the week of the 22nd, and i found this out on this 12th.

the car is too new and all ECMs are being used in production cars, awesome, so thats why there are no spare ones around.
i did get a rental as soon as they found out it was going to take a while for the fix. and as soon as i found out it was going to be at minumum a week and a half, i drove up there and got my car cause im not letting that thing sit in a dealers lot thats in a shady part of town.
my g/f said she read somewhere that they have had problems with the ECMs in that car. i could be completely wrong but im thinking its true. anyone else heard of this?
and its sad to think that they will be replacing my ECM another defective one :}

from what that other guy posted about the GM lemon law, looks like i might be getting my money back for this car sooner rather than later cause im thinkin GM wont be able to fix the problem anytime soon.

and if that happens, im canceling my GM Card account and buying a Civic SI or a MS3. ***** GM in their tight as*'s

new issue

So the dealer got the new computer in yesterday, and since its used for the solstice and sky, they dont come pre-programmed. so the dealer calls GM to get the program, and GM's initial response was, oh, we havent written a program for that car yet, let us contact engineering.

and... that didnt fix the problem, still doing the same thing, so now the dealer is going to replace the throttle body in 3 days, what the F.

woot for the lemon law, after they replace the throttle body, my car will have been in the shop for almost 3 weeks now, and im going to try to get my money back if its over a month :}

Maybe you WOULD be happier in your Cavalier. Probably should look in autotrader and see if you can get one because they are way cooler than your 2009 SS/TC.

I do agree with you about not buying a Chevy though. I still like Pontiac, but I hate most Chevy cars.

All of the ECMs come blank. I've bought about 20 of them in the last month. And I have had issues with the dealer being able to get the OS on there too. They keep messing up the clutch position learn and stuff.

It sounds like you may also be regretting buying the car. Maybe the payments are too high for you? After the excitement of tearing it up for a week maybe now it doesn't seem so cool. Payments are gonna be due soon, and that's gonna be a bitch if you either don't like the car, or can't really afford it.

That's a load of crap. I buy ECMs every week and I have had no problem getting them for that car. Takes me 2 days to get them.

Problems due occur on cars does not mean that its like that on all of the products. Thats what the warranty is for....I can understand your pain of having to take it to the dealer and stuff but honestly even if you go buy a honda civic si (LOL) your still just as likely to have a problem and same goes for the mazda...good luck though.
