Hi everyone
My Cobalt's odometer just flipped 14,000 miles today and the older it gets, the louder this clunking noise gets. It sounds terrible--like a cheap car!--when you drive slow over bumps, pot holes, railroad tracks, etc. Drive fast and you don't hear it!
So I took it to Chevy a few weeks back and explained to my service advisor what I am hearing. It's the front suspension, I was told, and there is nothing he or Chevy can do about it. Apparantly, this problem has been in existance since the very first Cobalt and Chevy did repairs at $700 per car, until it got to be too expensive and Chevy decided no more until they can come up with a 'cheaper' fix (no pun intended).
Has anyone had this problem and was able to get it fixed? Has the noise returned? Shouldn't there be a Recall on this?
Another 14,000 miles and I'll either be bald from pulling my long hair out, or driving a Volkswagen!
Please, Chevy, fix my car!!!!

DUDE, whenever someone finds a solution THEY WILL POST IT IN THE OTHER THREAD.
GM doesn't even have a sure-fire fix for it yet it's not like someone else is going to hit on something magically overnight.

Well, we all are. I get the feeling the sway bar links will fix most of the problem, but bwoody sent me the wrong ones, I need to get them exchanged for the correct ones and get them put on, then I'll let you know.
so i called gm and told them about my problem so they called dealship and made appointment for me tommorro. he talked to my severice rep and the stupid nut told him there seems to be nothing seriuously wrong lol yea after they replaced two steering colums two steering gears a steering rack a shat and 3 struts

If I were you I would push the dealer to look at the end links. The aftermarket ones from BWoody MAY NOT fit the LS. I ordered their "Cobalt SS" links, but it turns out they're only for the N/A SS with the FE3 suspension and about 2 1/2" too long for the FE5 suspension on the SS/SC. On the 2.2s with the FE1 suspension, I have no idea whether the FE3 links will fit. Best bet is to call or e-mail them and ask.
