ABS light

ABS light
So we get the first actual snow fall today, and as I'm leaving the Wings game (7-3 go Wings!) my ABS light goes on. My girlfriends brother takes out my manual, and looks it up. We did the turn the car off and back on thing that it says to do in the manual, still stays on. I finally get to a side street, get going about 10 mph, and slam on the brakes, and they lock up. I plan on going to the dealership tomorrow to get it checked out, but
1.I figure I'll forget until I get into the car unless I post it here, so I'll read this in the morning, and remember
and
2. to see if anyone else has had any problem with their anti lock breaks. If so, what was wrong and how long did it take to fix. I've been off work now for a week due to the holiday, and now I have this problem before I have work for the next 4 days.
Any help at all would be helpful.

Ive got that a couple of times and igored it. no problems at all. The light turns off after a few hours usually. But im still curious on what caused it. Hasent happened in the snow yet so i never wanted to test them. But I think they still work for me gonna have to check that out.
Anyone else?

Could be a faulty wheelspeed sensor, a poor connection in the wiring or a fauty EBCM(electronic brake control module). Any of which would turn on the ABS light. ABS will be deactivated while a DTC is present. Also a ABS light will illuminate if the battery voltage falls below a specifide voltage, around 12.6v. You will need a shop to check into this, they will be able to retreive a DTC to point them in the right direction.

My ABS light has becoming on but goes off after a few minutes. I have an appt on monday to get it checked out. Ever since this has been happening my front rotor's are shot. I only have 1,500 miles on my car & the rotors look like theres 30+ on them. So Id go get it checked to be on the safe side

The Cobalt just like the Cavailer when it has ABS does it a self test of the system prior before take off and if the system fails the self test the light will stay on, I know on my cavailer I can hear the brake pads engaging for a second and then disengaging along with the Master Brake Cylinder. I'd say the brakes aren't engaging correctly which could mean a more serious problem. I'd make sure the light stays on for the dealership to see, they can hook it up and pull the abs code to get a more distinct reason why...
With it being as cold as it is in Michigan I won't doubt moisture or dense air got in the lines somehow or a leak on a new brake line for that matter... it can happen...
