Ahhhh Ac!
Ahhhh Ac!
OK sooooo my AC died. I've had to car in twice already and now its in the shop for the 3rd time.
First time the techs told me it was the AC compressor. OK so they have to order the compressor (1 week wait) and then when they get it in I bring my car back in. they replace the compressor and then don't call me. I call up asking whats going on. They tell me the AC still won't work and that the system is leaking. Spent a few hours looking and cannot find where it is. Had to take the car because well I need it to get around, and brought it back this past monday. The guy has spent all Tuesday and today looking. Recharged the system twice and dyed it all. Still can't find it. Next step? Disassemble the dash to look for something.
WTH?!?!?!?! 4 month old car and the AC starts leaking? IN THE CABIN?!?!?!? What could have possibly caused the system to start leaking in there? I thought initially it was from doing the H/E swap but as they have not yet found a single bit of fluid leaking in the engine bay that is out. Uggghh this is so aggravating.

I thought the loaner program was sponsored by GM, and therefore not dealer dependent.

fwiw, I got a rental for 3 days from a different dealer than where I bought my car at. It's closer to me and has a better reputation for service, so I went there instead, and they took good care of me.

Well I dunno. I thought about calling my dealer in PA to see what they could do for me but they haven't heard from me since July when I had the idle problem fixed so they probably won't be of much help. Still doesn't help me that I'm not 25.

At least your a/c didn't do what mine did. My a/c box sprung a leak, therefore I had an unstopable puddle building up in my passenger side floorboard for 2 days until I could take it in. (happened on a Saturday NIGHT!) Then I had to wait another day because they would have it for a whole day and I needed to go to work. Being 20, I couldn't rent a car. Not even from Avis where I was working at the time. Good news is, it was all under warranty.

Well the refrigerant and dye is leaking somewhere inside the cabin so yeah somewhere in there some nasty dye is dripping onto things it should enver touch.

Its Long Island so yeah we still get some pretty high temps. Damn temperate climates.
Talked to the tech duirectly this morning. Still could no find the leak after dissassembling the dash as well. Just got the call 5 minutes ago. found a loose vaccuum line...5 days...that took way to freaking long.
I totally agree. Even with a high volume of costumers I think that 5 days is rediculous. It only took them 2 days to seal my a/c box when it was leaking, drain my car, and then let everthing dry out and check for mold. I think that's pretty damn good for a dealership.
It wasn't 5 consecutive days, but yeah they shoulda been able to find that problem pretty quick. Just speaks to the level of service I received. The inability to understand the tech on the phone spoke the same
Oh and btw its not working. AC worked last Thursday night when I picked it up but it wasn't working as of Friday morning and certainly wasn't working as of Saturday afternoon when it was 75 and sunny and I was stuck in stop and go traffic with my girlfriend. Car goes back tonight...again. Lemon Law should kick in soon IIRC.

So heres how it went down tonight:
-Dropped off the car. Signed it in and everything. then waited.
-Dad arrived. We asked to meet with the owner. The refceptionist went and got him. We went in with the owner and service manager.
-I told the manager the story of the AC. 4th time in. 1st time compressor was diagnosed as the problem, 2nd time was to get the compressor installed. The compressor "install" did not fix the problem, but I needed my car at that time so I picked it up. Brought car back the week after (last week) to get the problem sorted out and after 3 days the tech could not find the supposed leak in the system that was causing the problems. Took apart the dash, died the system a few times and nothing. Then i got the call thursday that the car was fixed and it was a loose vaccuum line. OK. woww that was a wway drawn out process for a vacuum line.
- So we go over all that and then we ask the service manager "was the compressor ever replaced?" He has to go get the full paperwork. He comes back and says "it was leaking oil. it was never replaced". the owner asks what tech worked on it...it was one fo the A techs so it was a good one.
-OK so we go over it all again. Car was brought in diagnosed with a compressor failure and then upon bringing the car back in once the part arrived the compressor was not replaced. DURRRR!
-Talk about the possibilty of not being able to fix the car should it still have problems with it. Owner explains that if his techs can't fix it this time a Chevy rep will be out and do his thing and if he can't fix it then the car will be bought back. I will also be given a loaner car to tide me over should this happen. Also the top tech they have is being pulled off whatever eh is working on and being put on my car.
So yeah...all this crap because the initial problem was never taken care of. Love it! YAY AMERICAN CARS!

So they found the actual leak. It was a problem with the evaporator. Woohooo! 100% certain that its the problem and special ordered the part for me. Should be install either tomorrow or Friday.
Cars not going back there for anything else unless the AC acts up again. But at that point the master tech for the area will be the one working on it and should it not be fixed the car gets lemon lawed
the water leak is coming from under the passenger side which is a bulliten for gm. I work at a dealership and they install a stupid gasket which doesnt stop the leak to save urself time and effort grab some silicon and under the passengers side under the dash theres a plastic box just run ur car untill the a/c starts visibly leaking and silicone the **** out of the crease
