Air conditioner panel...

The panel below the radio where you control the air conditioner in my car is looking strange. The top of it looks like the paint is coming off from under the top plastic. IE. The outside of it is clear and is perfect, but it almost looks like the top was pried up a little bit and the silver underneath was messed up. Could this be from the sun? I'm bringing my car to the dealer soon and I'm gonna get them to check it out, just wondering if anyone else has this or knows that the hell i'm talking about.

bump.... anyone?

We had this on our car...it was a factory defect in the plastic forming/painting process and we had ours replaced; completely covered under warranty.

I remember someone else had this and it was actually caused by a liquid air freshner they had hanging from their vent. It was dripping down onto the plastic and eating off the paint. Just another thing to check.

I've found a near perfect touch-up method for small areas of where this paint chips. I've been using a metallic-color Sharpie marker for a small area on the door handle, and it's as close to a perfect match for the silver-ish accent.
