Air Conditioning
Hey Everyone,
2006 SS/ SC
So I took my car intoday to have the AC checked.
The guy told me that it looks like the AC Pump is starting to wear out. He said he wasnt ready to condem it just yet. He said my high side was 150 psi and the low side was 31 psi. Outside temp 61F
My service manual shows those pressures to be okay, but I may have been looking at the chart wrong or for the wrong conditions.
So I ask about what it would take to get the pump replaced. The guy said that the only way the pump can be warrantyied ( buy its manufacture ) is if the reciever dryer and expansion valve are also replaced.
Ok I can understand that. However, it seems that the reciever dryer unit is built into the condensor. That means condensor replacement. Thats when the estimate started to get expensive.
I coudlnt tell by my service manual or by looing, but are the condensors and radiators built together as one unit? Or can the condensor be changed by itself without having to replace the radiator and stock heat exchanger?
Anyone ealse have AC Problems? What kind of problems are you guys having? My AC comes on and works, but it's not very cold. What all componants have failed in your guys' cars?

A/C problems
My A/C and heater both work but when i turn it on to 1,2,3,4 , no air comes out at all, only thr air from outside comes in a little, it works once in a while and then just turns off and stays off for a long time, what is the problem? Please help
Have you tried the blower motor resistor?
The thing with the A/C system is once parts on it start to go the rest can later on and it can be an expensive repair that sometimes it's just better to get used to not having it work
I am used to it by now, its just been getting really hot here and i just want some a/c aha
You're saying when you turn your knob to any number it doesn't blow air increasingly right? That would be the blower motor resistor so yes replace that and it'll work again.
ill also agree that the condenser is seperate, and its not hard to take out. I only know that because ive swapped radiators and tada. I havent had any issues with ac yet, but when I changed out my cabin air filter my flow got better. I doubt that will help you but most ppl dont know about that filter behind the glove box.
If the fan isn't working, try the blower resistor first as mentioned, then the blower motor itself if that doesn't help. Did it lose low speeds first and then all of them, and when it does work it works on every speed? That sounds more like the motor itself if so.
Usually when the resistor starts failing it loses the slowest speeds first and it can't come back.
