air/fuel questions

Hey guys my a/f ratio is at like 10.2 when I drive on the highway. I just swapped the motor due to a hole in the block caused by my axle. My mechanic said it's a turbo engine and not supercharged my like old one. So the lnf not the lsj. Is there any way I could tell. And if he's right would it effect my a/f. And could this be a reason why my car won't start until the 10th crank?

Well i have a lnf and i dont run that afr. You should be close to 14.7 but then again it should be fluctuating from lean to rich everytime

man, we are gonna need more detail. could be a million things. pictures of the engine in your car currently. was the ecu changed out?

you should never be cruising that rich though. i cant believe a mechanic would switch out to an lnf and hand you your car back. one member on here did a lnf swap into an lsj, and he had lots of problems to overcome

Post Pics of the motor.

Mechanic could have figured out the b207r swap.

If he put an LNF motor in the car wouldn't be driving at all. It's far from a straight swap and a random mechanic just figuring out.

could even just be an lnf block, right? i may be wrong, but i think the blocks are interchangeable. as stated pics and check engine light codes will be needed

Bluelighting is running a Gen 3 LDK bottom end with a lsj head. There are mods you have to do to make it work in the LSJ like putting in the correct reluctor wheel and I believe that the dipstick is different. The piston design is totally different but Blue made over 400hp on E47 with the S252et.

The A/F ratio is off possibly because of the tune did you go back to a stock ECU but have larger injectors?

Ok then yeah its gotta be an lsj then. I put in the same ecu that was in it before i jacked my old engine up. It never ran at 10.2 usually around 14.5 or 14.6 idk what could be different. also takes multiple cranks to get it started. could this be related?

will post pics tomorrow. also cel is on then flashes then stays on then flashes and keeps doing this. took it too autozone and their code reader wasnt getting anything. same results at advanced auto, even with my code reader.

Where are you in Florida?
If you are near Flager County/Palm Coast then you can come over and we can get it together. I already have one SS on jack stands at my house, what is another? lol

This is what I mean though, you have to modify the bottom end to make it work. I highly doubt that joe-shmo mechanic figured this out.

To answer ur first question, no regardless what motor ud have in the car, u should not be running 10.2 or whatever it was a/f at cruise. It should be 14.7ish. Ur a/f is pig rich. Did this sale mech put the motor in the car? And this is what he is telling u or what's the story ?

It's actually a friend if mine. He works for BMW and is a mechanic there. Idk what I would need to check but I know something is definitely wrong. Anyone got any ideas where to start. It's annoying as hell to try to get it started.

And I live in port saint Lucie Florida.

lol yes what ^ said. and might I add ur mechanic should be fired or is not a real mechanic and knows little about cars if he thinks that's turbo'd. never take ur car to that guy again, please. If u cant figure this out, take ur car to a REAL mechanic.
