Another rattling thread
i hear rattling sometimes when im driving on bumpy surfaces, like going across a bridge and you run over the places where its been put together, and i hear this rattling noise. it sounds like metal hitting metal and that its coming from the front passenger side of the car, but when i lean over to listen, i cant get a bearing on it because it sounds like its coming from everywhere then. i dont believe that its coming from the engine compartment because it just randomly happens. i have the same problem in the back. i think the white plastic and ceiling are being a bitch in that case. also, is it just me or does everyone elses' doors', on the inside, creak when you apply pressure to them?

I have the exact same problem when I go over a bridge and ur right its a pain in the ass to diagnose but for me its even harder cause i have a rattle from my sun roof and a rear glass rattle. Wow Gm must of hired homeless crack heads to do the interior install, my car has 400 km on it and it rattles worse than my 94 cavy with 300000 km on it. To answer ur questionconcer though all I can say is go to the dealer u deal with and go for a test drive with you driving with either the shop foreman ot the service manager

I'm having the EXACT same issue, but it has evolved from just happening on bumpy roads, to happening about 90% of the time. At first i thought it was where the seat belt is connected to the floor on the passenger side, but i don't think thats it.
Lemme know if you ever figure it out.

I get some kind of rattle from up under the dash when it's really cold out... I think it may be strut tower bar related... dunno... dosen't really bother me too much... if it's still there when the weather warms up I'll look at fixing it.
well, i get metal on metal in the front passenger part like i said and then plastic vibrations everywhere else. what gets on my nerves a lot too is when i lean on my door (for any reason) and the damn thing creaks. in my opinion, new vehicles should NOT creak in any way. they're new for crying out loud.
I just replaced the rear trailing arm bushings on a cobalt today, the owner was complaining of a bang noise in the rear of the vehical over bumps. When I got them out it looked as thought the rubber was begining to seperate from the steel shell. Maybe the lower control arm bushing are seperating like the rears. (shot in the dark)
As your driving put your hand on the airbag panel on the passenger side and push down slightly. I have a metallic sounding rattle coming from there. I haven't taken the time to deal with it yet, waiting on warmer weather.
-noises from behind instrument cluster on smooth or rough roads.
-creak in the passenger rear quarter whenever I turn or hit a bump
-cruise control switch, or whatever that switch on the left of the steering wheel is rattles. (Wouldn't know what it is 'cause i never got a owners manual or floormats with my 160 mile '06 ss/sc.)
-pulls to the left (especially at highway speeds)
-more to come I'm sure.
**Why the **** did I try be loyal to american automakers? I can see why 7 out of ever 10 cars I see on the road today are foreign. 'casue we suck!
P.S I realize not all cars are built the same. Just pissed :P

I had the same problem how to remove this :
This sound does not come form the passenger side, its seem to be from the passenger side but in fact the sound come from the rear seat, this is the rubbing sound of the seat bracket behind the rear seat. Just unclip your rear seat and leave it like that, push on the back of the seat until the seat take place over the lock but dont push it, the seat doesnt have to be clipped on the bracket, you seat will not move because between the seat and the trim is very tight.
try this im sure this will resolve your problem

Rattling from passengers side on a 2.2/2.4 is most likely due to an aftermarket intake. You can usually here it when you start the car/idle and when your hitting bumpy surfaces, let out the clutch too fast etc.
rattle,moans, squeak's, tap tap...
Too much plastic I say! Maybe we have some critters makin our cars run.. We have mice movin our power windows, shrews running our power steering, hamsters pumping gas to our engines!!
.. Youd think we are running sound effects machines too.. Its all cool, I blame winter!!!!

I get pull to the left side *sometimes*. Mainly at highway speeds as well, and especially on wide-open highways, like the 3 lane Ohio Turnpike. It doesn't do it all the time though, and it won't do it regardless of speed if I'm on a traditional road, so.. I just figured it was the natural lay of the road, I'm guessing the Pirelli P6's don't help much either if that's what you have on yours - I can't wait til these are worn out and I can justify some Michellin's.
What's worse than the slight drift though is that I catch wind like HELL. Sometimes I feel like it's going to blow me off the road, especially when passing a truck and it's been blocked and finally hits me. Before this I had a Cougar and *never* experienced this much from wind.
I think they should've put the thing in a wind tunnel sideways as well.

yep, my car is now know has the rattlemobile. It's incredible how many rattles I have in my car, and I only have 6000km. ARGH!!!!!
As soon as it's warm enough, I plan to dynamat the whole car. Door, trunk etc... that should help a little, it's driving me nuts!!!
In the meantime, just turn the volume up on the stereo!!
Freaking cheap a$$ interior... gotta love these cheap hard plastics...

i have the same rattling on my passenger side i thought it was my glove box but i noticed everytime someone was sitting in the passenger seat the sound stopped.. so one day i hit the seat and got the same noise that im hearing.. so i took the seat out and the sound stopped.. try to see if that works then hit the dealer and say fix it.. i also have pretty much all the other rattles also..
Wow, I love you guys.
I took the seat out, and that removed a lot of rattles!!! I'd say about 3/4 of the rattles are now gone, and that kwik kwik I was hearing over stiff bumps is now gone, which was the most annoying.
I ordered some Dynamat (well B-Quiet extreme, cheaper price same quality), will do my door after this winter, should be pretty good after that!
Thanks guys!!

hmm, i'll have to try the air bag and the seat thing sometime. and i have now discovered that the satin finish on the trim pieces on the driver side door is chipping and that the cloth insert (should have gotten leather) has come unloose in one spot. the satin finish under my climate control knobs has like, um....well, we all know what stretch marks looks like right? looks like under the knobs with them revealing white up under....
I believe what causes many of the rattles in the ss/sc is the stiffer suspension. The roads where I live are kind of rough and with the stifff suspension/plastic interior rattles are very common to occur.
