auto trans troubles

ok its been doin it for the better part of 6 months now and it happened when i fried the bcm, but here's whats happening. it shifts hard, just like when usin a shift plus on stage II, all the time and i dont have my shift plus on the car anymore and my traction control light has been on too so it doesnt work either, not that i care bout the traction control part cuz lets face it my 2.2 balt only has enough power to spin when on the spray.

now i know someone is gonna ask how the bcm got fried so imma just go ahead and anwser that now. i installed a zzp mid-lenght combo and megan cat back and the extended harness for the o2 sensor that came with the zzp combo got caught by a stick on my test drive of the new exhaust. well when that happened it pulled the wires in half and they touch under the car and shorted, now where this relates to the trans problems is i had the slack of the extention harness tied up to the harness that goes to the TCM and it pulled that plug out when it snatched it. from what i can tell after inspectin all of the wires they are good and the plug is back in as well.

so anybody think they may be able to tell me what the problem could be? it was taken to the dealer when i fried the BCM and they fixed that and never said anythin bout the trans shiftin like that or that there was a problem at all. long story? lol yea it kinda is.

If the wiring harness got yanked out, you could have some wires that are broken inside the insulators...only way to check that is to remove the harness and do an ohms check of each wire -- one at a time...or replace the harness completely.

i'll have to check that then. i believe i can fix it if thats the case. i just cant see replacin the entire harness for the simple fact that it would be a pain in the ass to do.

I had the same problem with my car and the cause of it was related to the air intake believe it or not......I had done the airbox mod on my 2.4L and then the same thing started to happen.....shift hard as hell and traction control light was on constantly......went back to stock intake and no more problem......tried the airbox mod again and the problems came back........not sure why the airflow effects the tranny but going to assume its some sort of "limp mode" created by the MAF........might be a coincedence that yours does this too but if you have an aftermarket CAI then maybe its another thing to check........Just giving some info, hope it helps....Later

I have the K&N Typhoon intake and have had the GMPP intake before -- never had a tranny problem from them... seems strange yours did it with the intake? Only thing that I can think of why the intake would affect it is if the MAF wasn't working for some reason in the new intake.

Yes it is obviously because of the MAF but with the airbox mod, the MAF is in the same spot as you dont remove the stock tube or MAF position......if you havent seen the stock airbox mod you basically cut the top off of the lid of the factory air cleaner housing and then clamp a cone filter on the tube going to the throttle body.......for some reason i think it was just because of the increase in airflow. I did disconnect the battery to let the car "relearn" but that didnt help........its all very weird.....im going to try it again sometime and see what happens, i might do a couple things differently and see how that goes.

Disconnecting the battery doesn't reset the learn values. You have to peform an erase of the DTCs through the OBD II port to reset the learn values (even if you don't have a DTC).
