When you store it do you put the alarm on? I store my car as well I start it atleast twice a week and id the weather is good I take it for a run.

I thought I read in my manual that the battery is only covered for one year but don't quote me! I hate those puny batteries they gave us.. Esspecially in :ca: winters.. Once mine died once it was worthless:thumbsdow

Mr_Slobalt 01-20-2008 05:45 PM

they're worthless batteries period

I forget how they cover the batteries at the dealer

CleanNFun 01-20-2008 05:47 PM

If it never gets driven in the winter... why don't you disconnect one of the terminals?

cooljake73 01-20-2008 06:20 PM

that wont screw up my reflash on my computer will it or anything

dude, get a battery tender. they're usually used on like motorcycles and classics and so on, but they're like $20.

exactly my thoughts. a battery tender will keep it up when its sitting for a long time. its one of those things you should put on at the time you put fuel stabilizer in the fuel. and still, should start it once a week and run it for a bit.

cooljake73 01-20-2008 07:01 PM

where you get the tender at

LaserBlue07SS 01-20-2008 07:07 PM

gm covers the battery under 3year 36 as far as i know. at least at the dealer i work at we do.

well shit thats sweet i deal with runde chevrolet outa east dubuque ill and they covered my clutch after 15 thousand so yeah

LaserBlue07SS 01-20-2008 07:21 PM

give them a call. wish optima made a battery for our cars tho. If you store it put some sort of battery tender on it and when u do start it don't just start it and shut it down. worst thing you can do to a battery. take it around the block or something.

Sharkey 01-20-2008 07:24 PM

should be able to find a battery tender anywere you can buy a battery

cobalt_sleeper 01-20-2008 08:06 PM

If i'm not mistakin by disconnecting the battery for a long time will erase all fuel trim data right??

LaserBlue07SS 01-20-2008 08:29 PM

yeah the pcm will relearn the fuel trim so its ok you won't harm anything by unhooking a battery for an extended period

Coblasts 01-20-2008 08:58 PM

If you allow the battery to go dead ,it will then freeze and warp the plates,
Try bringing it inside for the night to unthaw and check it for 12 volt in the morning.
If you have 12 volts in the morning charge it up and it might be still okay.
And donot store the battery on cement keep it on a peice of wood.

Check out this site... my battery just started giving me problems... its only a year old, but i got an insane sound system thats always draining it, plus winter is here and now thats showing the true effects. this list is having an impact on my decision for a new battery this weekend. hope it helps....
