Better Buriness Bureau

Yup Just filled a complaint to BBB, let them kick some ass for me. I am tired of every ******* mechanic telling me the clutch is fine. It slips from 1 - 2 and slips while normal accelaration in 3rd.

They morons tell me that i cant power shift. I told them GM makes the car go fast and advertised it as such, what do you think im gonna do with the car. Go to the grocery Store, Thats why I have a HHR for.

So lets see what they do. Ill keep you guys posted on how to fix this common problem with the clutch.

"Power Shifting" is considered abuse...and in noway does Chevrolet advertise powershifting, or going fast.

and its Business..not Buriness.

Personaly, if I felt like something had to be done, id go talk to the Sales Manager or the GM(General Manager)....tell them you bought the car, la la la...im not happy..

Maybe your car doesn't need a new clutch... just a new driver.

And who decides power shifting is abuse? oh and i didnt power shift untill i was well over
1k on the miles.

After a days driving when i felt the clutch give out in 3rd. No way was i power shifting,

I got a couple of pals that can burn the rubber of in 2nd gear in stock form, yet i cant do it why,

I have driven Vetts, Vipers, And sorry to say Mustangs, never had this problem. I dont care how much i power shifted.

Its a Sorry excuse for a clutch on a high performance vehicle.

Maybe you need to shut the **** up and instead of being a moron, try to say something that can be of use. I have been driving stick since i was 13, and driven cars from small as a Fiero to a Tractor Trailer, dont tell me the car needs a new driver.

How does a clutch slip only in certain gears? If it does it in one, it will do it in all, same crank speed and torque no matter what gear you're in. Welcome to wheel slip.

Power shifting is abuse no matter what. Some kid (a high schooler), brought his cobalt SS/SC into my dealership for a clutch warranty at 3,200 miles. When I tread depth the front tires and found the front tires were worn to the wear indicators in 3,000 miles and there was balled up rubber on the fender liners....Bye bye warranty.

The cobalt SS/SC is not a sports car. Its a fast version of an economy car. The clutch may suck, however a lot of it does have to do with the driver. The clutch discs are very prone to glazing caused by overheating due to driver causing slip.

Blatant abuse like that should never be under warranty. I dont care if your driving an AMG Mercedes, or an M series BMW, warranties are not meant to cover people being stupid.

The funny part about it is, at this time no one was stocking parts for the cobalt yet, not even the parts distribution centers. We had to wait 6 weeks before we got a flywheel in from Germany! And since the vehicle wasnt warrantied, we didnt give him a rental. I bet for 6 weeks mommy and daddy were making him walk to make him realize how much of a moron he is.

The RPM isnt the issue, its how you engage and disengage the clutch. These cars should really be reved past 3 thousand RPM though. Any lower and your putting a lot of heat into the clutch disc because of the torque.

Ive driven a 6-puck unsprung hub race disk clutch, with a heavy duty pressure plate and a 11 pound aluminum flywheel through Chicago traffic for 20,000 miles. And that doesnt count the trips to the dragstrip, the stress put on the clutch by a burnout/launch on a slick (a DOT approved Slick, yes I drive on the street on a slick). So you better damn well be able to get 30,000 miles atleast out of a cobalt clutch. Hell my neon has 190,000 miles on the ORIGINAL clutch!!!

Do me a favor, go out to your SS/SC and accelerate up to 30MPH. Put the car into 5th gear and go WOT with it. If the clutch doesnt slip in the condition, its sure as hell not the clutch

Oh yeah, I shift my car at roughly 5000 rpm, all the time. Thats the advantage of being a technician. Your allowed to do stupid **** and still warrantly stuff....I am completely joking ofcourse. I shift my LT at 3700 to 4000 all the time.

See your a tech, i never thought i had to shift it above 3 grand. Thats the problem you cant drive normal with these cars, its like your racing everytime. But my problem is it slips on a normall acceleration in 3rd gear on the second day of the car being out of the dealer. But i cant show it to them becuase it happens after an hour of driving in traffic, its not supposed to, no one can shift at 3 grand in Los angeles Traffic on the 405 at 5pm

Hey, that's great. Now learn to drive well. I've seen plenty of OTR truck drivers hit stuff just backing into a spot at truck stops- drivers that have been "driving forever." Big f'n deal. Quality > Quantity

And the BBB probably won't do anything for you, seeing as they deal mostly with unethical businesses, rather than mechanics who fail to diagnose things that aren't wrong with a car.
