This morning my car was driving just fine. Tried to go to lunch and my car wouldn't start... so I kept trying and finally it did. But when it started it sounded really weird and crazy. It has been snowing really bad, high winds and COLD! So I thought since the fuel was really low that the gas froze in the fuel line so I went to fill her up. I left the gas station after filler up same problem and then it just died! Any suggestions what is wrong?

I really need help!

 

Go with your first guess.
Get some gas line antifreeze or fuel conditioner that will disperse the water.
Put it in your tank wait a bit and try starting it again and drive it to get the better fuel through the lines.
It doesnt take much ice to clog a fuel filter.

 

I did some troubleshooting and I think it might be the coil pack.

 

Does it sound like it's running on two cylinders?

 

Gm had problems with the battery in cold situations that could be it

 

Yup it sure does and it shakes the whole car at idle.

Your coil pack is beat.

Dont let your dealer charge your for 4 hours of labor like they did to me.

The coil pack from GM is ~$120 and it should take no more than 30 minutes to install, so dont let the stealership **** you over with bogus prices

 

same thing happened to me twice, never again... i havnt replaced my coil pack yet. I actually dont think this has happened in over 6 months

 

what causes the coil pack to go bad? Weather conditions?

on a 2.2 it is a silver rectangle with cooling fins across it. it is located on top of the valve cover.

 

I dont believe that anything really causes them to go bad they just fail at one point in time. I cant believe they are going bad this quickly though, but then again..

 

like 5 mechanics said most likely is the coil pack

 

However IME when the coil is bad it runs alright for a little bit then it starts to act up because they coil pack heats up, it very well could be something different, maybe a clogged fuel filter or faulty fuel pump. If the coil isnt bad though and you replace it, you wont be getting your money back from the parts store.

Went outside one morning, went to start the car. Hard time starting. When it finally fired up it sounds exactly like it's running on two cylinders and the engine is bucking and kicking.

I shut it off an start again, same thing, no matter how many times I try.

I call GM Roadside, and they send a tow truck.

 

did the exhaust smell really bad too? at idle did yours kick like crazy?

 

Yeah you could tell the car was running stupid rich.

And basically all the car could do was idle, I didn't have enough power to really move on it's own

 

YES! even when you floored it it would take forever... cel would go off at 5000rpm
