This Blows......
This Blows......
Well I have noticed that my car ticks when I first crank it up, it almost sounds like a valve tap, but its just not the same sound......it almost goes completely away once the car warms up so I was just thinking it was b/c the oil drains to the bottom of the oil pan. So its been doing it for a while and tonight I ran into a service tech that works at a local Chevrolet Dealership here in town and he says that the tick is my header gasket and the reason it goes away is b/c when the gasket heats up it expands and almost completely closes up the gap in the gasket! So at least I know what my problem is and now I can take it in and have the gasket replaced along with my brakes!
Some people when searching for stuff (like we keep telling them to) don't first notice the date of the thread.
I'm sure no harm was intended, and it looked like there was some more relevant info to be had.
So lay off, jesus.

no they have been pulling a lot of random threads up from like 05 from the lounge and whatnot...i'm the first to admit i dont look at the dates but it just started in the past 2 days
^not just you, anyone who complains about this...the fact still remains that although this is an older thread, valuable information is to be had from it...thats what css.net is about, learning and community...
Sounds like some valve tap to me. Makes noise first thing in the morning, goes away after a few seconds till oil pressure gets to the top of the engine. My friends 2.4 taps till its warm but thats normal as well. Piston slap, 100% normal in a cold engine.
ya...my mazda mx6 had that...i let the damn thing run dry for a week without putting oil in it (i didnt even know about cars back then)... after that it never really went away, even when driving
i pray that this isnt the same thing...i keep checking my oil stick to be on the safe side lol

Its not just level, it also comes down to your maintenance schedule. Its been recommended forever and to death 3 months or 3000 miles. If you never change your oil it sludge’s up and block passages and can cause tapping, knocking, and well a general lack of noise from the engine.
Not saying that’s the problem at all, just extra info.
