bluetooth and iPod/usb playback
bluetooth and iPod/usb playback
Hey guys I have a couple of problems. First, I just bought a 2009 Chevy Cobalt which has the usb port so you can connect a mp3 player and play all songs through the radio. I have a iPod classic and whenever I try to connect via the usb port it gives me the following error "iPod not authenticated. Check iPod version". In the cars owners manual it gives no suggestions other than ensure the iPod has the more current firmware installed which it does. The same thing happens to my new iPhone 3G. It plays through the auxillary port but I would rather use the usb port and take advantage of the controls that are built in through the radio for the iPod. Anybody have any ideas??
2nd issue is with the integrated Bluetooth. I connected my iPhone to the system but everytime I try to make an outgoing call or if an incoming call comes in it does mute the stereo briefly but then it disconnects and the music will continue to play. I deleted all the programming and started from fresh again and it will allow me to make 1 or 2 calls or receive 1 or 2 calls but after that again if an incoming call comes it mutes the stereo, it tells me of an incoming call and when I answer it just drops and plays the stereo. The person on the other end just has dead air on their line. And when attempting to make a call it just disconnects, and this happens if I am initiating the phone call from my phone or the car controls. Any ideas with this???

Help coming soon....
I talked to a friend at GM. He states that there will be updates available from GM (and possibly Apple) to fix your connectivity problems with your iPOD. It might be a month or so.....
I actually returned my ipod 120GB classic for a 80GB classic and now that one works without issue. not sure what the difference is outside of the hard drive size...
my phone is a iPhone 3G and I have reset it numerous times and it has the 2.1 updated firmware and I can link it to the Bluetooth but it just cuts off when attempting to make a call or answer an incoming call, whether directly from the phone or by using the car controls. It will pause the audio to the radio or cd or ipod when I make a call or try to answer a call but it then just starts playing the music again. I have read in other places that it may be the 2.1 firmware that may be causing the issue and that the old iPhone 2G phones are not a problem. It stinks because of the work I do I'm usually on the phone almost always while driving and it beats having the earpiece
If anyone has any ideas please let me know....

its the firmware on your iphone. it happened to a couple of other members on here. you can downgrade your firmware until GM or apple release an update with a fix for this issue
I've got the same issue ith my LG Voyager. I see LG has a new firmware release out but seeing that it is the identical issue as Iphone users I'm guessing it is a GM problem.
